Bustino, Eastern Belle is still in the family ownership - she finished 2nd in a G2 at Belmont the day before her half-brother won the Derby.

I don't know how many of the family the Oppenheimer's still own. I'd have to compile a list of them before checking them out.

Thanks pN. They must be relieved with that.
I noticed that Charlton has a 2yo filly called Pure Vanity (by New Approach out of Miss Pinkerton: the latter is out of a half-sister to Golden Horn's dam). I'll look into the family as Nuryana had 6 daughters.

Oppenheimer has a sister (by Champs Elysses) to Golden Horn even if Fleche d’Or is gone. Presumably she’ll go to stud this year. Fleche d’Or’s dam was the good filly Nuryana (by Nureyev) who had 6 daughters. Now only one remains at his stud and that is the useful Rebecca Sharp who won the 1997 Coronation Stakes. She has had three daughters and may have produced another one by Rail Link. The youngest daughter is the Dansili mare Amelia May who appears to be difficult to get in foal, but has had a colt by Nathaniel this year. The other daughter in the stud is Miss Pinkerton (by Danehill) who won the Atlanta Stakes and has been very productive. As well as the 2yo (Pure Vanity by New Approach) already mentioned she has a yearling filly by Nathaniel and filly foal by Poets Voice.

Of Miss Pinkerton’s earlier daughters it appears three were sold. Vanity Rules is a 5yo full-sister to Pure Vanity, ans she could still be in Oppenheimer’s ownership and This is the Day (by Footprintsinthesand) who as a 4yo is still in training is still owned. So Openheimer has or at least could currently have 8 closely related fillies and mares to Golden Horn. Let’s hope he sells and keeps the right ones!

When looking through these mares the name B. Sangster has come up more than once. He is a part-owner now of Fleche d’Or and has ownership of a daughter of Miss Pinkerton.

Press release for next month's Arqana Yearling Sale:

The catalogue for Arqana’s August Yearling Sale, set for Aug. 15 to 17 in Deauville, is now online. Part I of the sale, which includes the Saturday and Sunday sessions beginning after racing at 5 p.m., has a total 94 lots catalogued and Part II, which is made up of 186 lots, begins at 1 p.m. Monday. The v.2 sale, comprised of 137 yearlings, will follow Aug. 18.

Among the highlights of the catalogue will be the first six yearlings by Frankel (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) to be offered at public auction, including lot 159, a half-sister to Classic and six-time Grade/Group 1 winner Stacelita (Fr) (Monsun {Ger}) offered by Haras des Capucines; and lot 165, a half-brother to a pair of group winners including the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere scorer Naaqoos (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), offered by Haras du Mezeray. Ecurie des Monceaux will offer the other four Frankels, including lot 127, a half-sister to stakes winners Pacifique (Fr) (Monsun {Ger}) and Prudenzia (Fr) (Dansili {GB}), the latter being the dam of G1 Irish Oaks winner Chicquita (Fr) (Montjeu {Ire}).

Other highlights on paper include a full-sister to Treve (Fr) (Motivator {GB}) (lot 176), offered by Haras du Quesnay. Arqana graduate Treve appears well on her way to defending her G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe title for a third time later this year after taking Sunday’s G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud. Haras d’Etreham offers the largest draft of yearling with 33, including lot 182, a colt from the first French-bred crop of three-time Australian champion sire Redoute’s Choice (Aus) out of the Group 1-winning Vadawina (Ire) (Unfuwain), and therefore a half-sister to Group 2 winner Vadamar (Ire) (Dalakhani {Ire}) and stakes winner Vedouma (Ire) (Dalakhani {Ire}). The nine yearlings by Galileo (Ire) catalogued include lot 59, the first foal out of three-time Group 3 winner and Group 1-placed Fire Lily (Ire) (Dansili {GB}) and lot 7, a half-sister to GI Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf victress Zagora (Fr) (Green Tune).

Dubawi (Ire), currently the leading sire in Europe and North America, has just two slated to sell, including the first foal out of Group 3 winner Pacifique (Fr) (Montjeu {Ire}) (lot 119). lot 175is a son of another leading sire in Invincible Spirit (Ire) and is a half-brother to Group 1 winners Most Improved (Ire) (Lawman {Fr}) and Ectot (GB) (Hurricane Run {Ire}). Invincible Spirit is also represented by a half-brother to dual Group 1-winning juvenile and young sire Dabirsim (Fr) (Hat Trick {Jpn}) (lot 143).

“We are excited at the prospect of presenting the very first yearlings by Frankel for sale, as well as the first yearlings by Redoute’s Choice from his stay at the Haras de Bonneval,” said Arqana Chairman Eric Hoyeau. “The most popular proven stallions on the market as well as exciting first-crop stallions are also well represented, including flagbearers for French breeding Kendargent, Le Havre and Siyouni.”

Zoffany (Ire) and Canford Cliffs (Ire), the leading first-season sires in Europe, are each represented by close relations to Group 1 winners: lot 163 is a Canford Cliffs half-brother to G1 Criterium International winner and Classic-placed French Fifteen (Fr) (Turtle Bowl {Ire}); and lot 68, by Zoffany, is a granddaughter of the G1 Italian Oaks winner and stakes producer Guadalupe (Ger) (Monsun {Ger}).

“The August Sale’s reputation is growing from year-to-year from an international perspective thanks to the unique cocktail on offer: yearlings of the highest quality, a festive and convivial atmosphere and an ideal date at the heart of some of the racing calendar’s most prestigious weekends,” Hoyeau added. “The sales complex has benefitted from further
improvements in a bid to maximize the comfort of all our clients. We are now very much looking forward to seeing buyers from all over the world at Deauville.”

How does this work at stud?
Say I am the sole owner of a multiple group 1 winner and my colt stands at stud.
Owners will then offer their fillies to my horse and pay a fee say £50k a time. Now do they retain sole ownership of the said offspring, or can deals be made for a split ownership/share etc etc.
I would imagine this is the case, correct?
    thanks.

I don't know how it works in the thoroughbred World but I expect it's the same as the Sportshorse World in that any deal can be made between the stud and the owner of the mare ie it's simply an agreement between 2 parties as with any other contract (obviously a written contract is needed). Even if there is no contract the stud could always make an offer to buy into a foal if it looked a good prospect. I'd be pretty sure there are no constraints on either but Princess will know for sure.

In the majority of cases the owner of the mare has full ownership of the foal. However some studs (mainly Darley and Coolmore) will do "Foal Share" arrangements where no stud fee is paid at the time of mating but the resulting offspring has to be offered for sale as a foal or yearling. The stud fee is then paid out of the sale proceeds and any profit split between the owner of the mare and the owner of the stallion.

Does anyone know what has happened to Sea The Sun? She is a full sister to Sea The Moon and was bought by Sunderlands Holdings Inc for 320,000gns.

Apologies for trespassing on Princess’s territory here, but the 2015 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale catalogue reportedly includes 18 Frankel yearlings, 18 Nathaniel yearlings, 13 Dubawi yearlings, 23 Galileo yearlings, 20 Sea The Stars yearlings, 26 Invincible Spirit yearlings, 20 Oasis Dream yearlings and 11 Dansili yearlings.

Add to that the yearlings from a plethora of other big names and the cash register is going to be going kerching!

Interesting. Whoever is buying can't buy them all so they will no doubt (as usual) draw up a short list. With such a turnout I wonder how many short lists will be the same. I would be looking very closely at the dam side to produce my short list (just in case I win the lottery). Oh bugger, I don't do the lottery.

Thanks Ron and QuarterMoon, I'm just about to put up a separate thread for the October Book 1 Yearling Sale.

As well as the 6 Frankel's at Arqana and 18 at Tattersalls there are also 5 in the Keeneland September Sale. I'll probably put up a dedicated thread for the Frankel yearlings so that it is easy for folks to monitor.

Good idea. The first thing I did was to extract a list of Frankel foals to save flicking back and forth in the catalogue <laugh>

Juddmonte have released this picture of seven yearling fillies by Frankel in their paddock in Ireland. They have not said who the dams are.

In other news, NIGHT OF THUNDER has been retired from racing and will join the Darley stallion roster. They've not yet announced where he will be standing, or a fee.

Like the look of the filly almost dead centre there, to the right of the one with its head turned to the right. Will be at the sales with the chequebook at the ready...<whistle>
