Evening, Princess, and it's nice to see you back. Genuine question, and the answer's needed to settle a retirement-home argument which threatens to turn nasty.
Who was the last Epsom Derby winner to be trained at Clarehaven ? Rachel's Husband was (we think) at Stanley House in Benny the Dip's year; Jim here claims to have seen photos of Spion Kop and P.P. Gilpin, but he's almost certainly lying. If you can trace it, the winning trainer's name would be useful, too.

P = Placed. L= Unplaced. He was 2nd in his St Leger prep race but there were only 2 runners so I called that a loss. For his Derby prep (not shown) he had a private race against his stable mates (and came last). In his final race the 2'5 mile Ascot Gold Cup he actually finished 4th but was promoted to 3rd

I'd read it. When you think about it, it's one hell of a story. Here we are all these years later and he still gets a mention from time to time.

Anthony Oppenheimer has announced he intends to stand GOLDEN HORN at stud in the UK, probably Newmarket. There would be a handful of contenders: Darley (possible as they own his sire), Cheveley Park (seem to prefer to stand sprinters and milers), the National Stud (no real funds of their own to purchase a colt of that calibre, but always a chance he may be leased to them) or Lanwades (strong owner/breeder ethic and recently started to expand their roster).

Am I right in saying old boy Oppenheimer sold off Golden Horn's dam for £70k or something like that quite recently?!
I'd imagine that Darley would be keen to stand him. Cape Cross is not exactly in the first flush of youth and at the moment Golden Horn looks as though he would be an obvious successor
She was sold in December 2012 for 62,000 to Norelands Stud. They then sold the Champs Élysées filly she was carrying for €150,000. The mare has a yearling filly by Acclamtion this year who is to be retained. There is no foal this year as she was barren but she is in foal to Shamardal now.
pN, Golden Horn was Fleche d'Or's 2nd foal. Has Oppenheimer kept the first-foal Eastern Belle, who appears to be a 4yo in training in the US.
Do you know how many of Fleche d'Or's sisters he has?
