The squad last season was arguably the strongest and best we have ever had but we were still relegated - Discuss
I totally agree. I'm not saying we will bounce straight back up, but we have a better chance then Brentford. I see them as over-achieving massively last season. They did very well to even make the play-offs, whilst we have a very strong core already in place. In summary, I reckon we'll finish higher than Brentford this season.
Injuries to big players ( Snodgrass, Diame, Jela); Under-performing big players from the previous year ( Livermore, Hudlestone, McGregor, Davies, Ben Arfa); Mismanagement of potentially effective players (Ince). There's a whole number of reasons why we were relegated.
Wigan sold Mauro Boselli, Arouna Kone and James McArthy for a combined total of £19m. Fulham sold Ashkan Dejagah, Pajtim Kasami and Kieran Richardson for a combined £10m. I agree that the core of players we have are better than the ones Fulham came down with, but it'd be remiss of us to think we're incapable of going down again. You are never to big to drop into League 1, just ask Leicester, Norwich, Wolves, Southampton et al.
Listen chum - I find your replies to legitimate posts irritating and impertinent. When I was at public school we had a particular method of dealing with rudeness but that's another story. I have already reported you for inappropriate language yesterday. Jog on old chap. BV
Do try and strive for the correct grammar old chap. We were waiting, rather than we was. It leaves me rather embarrassed when people can't grasp the basics of written English. Happy to help Vern
You are never too big to go down. But with the player's we've signed and what we have I think we're much stronger than either Wigan/Fulham. Our finances appear to be much more solid too. Hey, I'm probably a little biased too. I don't think Brentford will do anywhere near as well next year. They've already lost Pritchard, likely to lose Odubajo and Gray. That doesn't leave them with too much and their signing are complete unknowns
