Liverpool have apparently met the £32.5m buy out clause for Benteke. He's a brilliant player with a goal every other game - I just don't know how he fits into the current Liverpool tippy tappy style? He thrives on crosses, which again - Liverpool don't do. Strange signing for them.
After much praise on this forum, about refusing the money on order to play football, it would appear that the lure of the pound has got the better of him. It should also give Villa some much needed "wonga" that they are alleged, by some, to be short of.
July 11: Fabian Delph turns down Man City to stay at Villa July 16: Liverpool meet release clause for Benteke July 17: Delph fetches coat...
You never know whether he was promised that they wouldn't sell Benteke and then they have gone against that. Villa could be a force next year if they invest well. They will have already likely had £30million to spend add to that the £50m made from transfers. I have a feeling one of our players could be a Villa player next year. Chester, Brady or Huddlestone.
DONE DEAL: Aston Villa have signed highly-rated Nice left-back Jordan Amavi for £9m. This is obviously a mistake, the word at snooker club was that they have no wonga.
They will if they sell Benteke. I wonder if they'll come in for Trevor Huddlestone as a replacement for Delph. Sherwood knows him well.
Villa have pulled some serious coin this week, Benteke and Delph have netted them over £40m, they'll definitely do some significant additional business.
Spotted the Sterling comments from a few pages back. Whilst the fee looks huge Man City have got arguably the best player in his age group in league football. Easy to compare him with other key players of a similar position (Sanchez etc) but they have mostly 5-6 years in him. If they get the happy Sterling from two seasons ago then they've a good player. If they get the player of last season who was clearly disillusioned then they may have bought a one season wonder.
Completely agree, the fee is nothing to them they just paid what they had to in order to get him. He's a great prospect and they have some incredible players for him to learn from, he should only get better with them. Whilst he's not the complete package he has the potential to be great, it's good for England that he's gone there to improve, it will be interesting to see what happens to him in the next few seasons.
Cant see Delph playing. They've ruined Rodwell and Sinclair. They've paid 11 million for some kid from Fulham who probably wont see the light of day either.
