David Cotterill is being mentioned as a target for CIty. I know he's a Jack andcwe love to hate him but he is a Cardiff boy and given his performances for Birmingham and Wales I would have him my team
Martin - F off. Don't want the little git anywhere near us. I've never verbally bashed our own players but will gladly make an exception for him. No better than what we already have - by a long distance. He only gets about 3 minutes per game for Wales - hardly able to judge on that. No strong feelings by me then!!!!
Loads of bollox transfer rumours about . Lets hope David Cotterill is one that is just a rumour. Not because he played for Swansea just because hes cr@p.
Looks like Ameobi could be on his way to us: - http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cardiff-city-look-set-secure-9601211 Although I'm suspicious of a wind up when noting the "sister's" christian name. After all most other things have gone titi's up lately.
Better than nothing but not what we really need. Bags of pace but no final ball. However, at this level that might be enough and he is still relatively young. Suppose after this Slade will put his feat up and call it day on anymore signings
If it is true, then it's got to be positive if only as a statement of intent by the club. I just hope he doesn't turn out to be another loanee in the Zaha mould - all fur coat and no knickers. On the Slade front, I've got no reason to doubt his sincerity at the club, it's his ability at this level that's the concern. Nice guys don't always win prizes.
Not just Zaha - Morrison, JET and others I can't remember right now who have come to show off their skills and been sent packing well within their loan terms as they can't hold down first team spots.
If we'd played Morrison for any sort of extended period and then maybe done something as mental as played him in his actual position it might have helped. I worry about this possible signing, our crowd don't haven't been very sympathetic towards maverick type loan players in recent times. Zaha's initial match winning contribution earned him absolutely **** all support and he was lambasted as soon as things went down hill. That was the end for him and he was written off by a vocal majority. I mentioned on an earlier thread regarding Jet that I remember his time differently to others. Whilst I remember him missing crucial playoff semi final chances I also remember him causing absolute mayhem for opposition defenders in a number of appearances. I know I'm pretty much on my own on here regarding this but I'd rather watch a player who can win games on their own every other match than see Noone give 120% every week whilst not creating or scoring. The games when it doesn't happen for the maverick types you really have got to stick with them, most are confidence players and the crowd getting on their back every time they give the ball away can't help with that. If we are signing him I'd expect him to have something resembling assurances of a first team place to start the season at least (I can't see why else he'd choose us over Wolves other than how much nicer Cardiff is than Wolverhampton perhaps). That means he'll probably be taking Pilks, or more likely imo Noone's shirt.
Do we really want yet another winger, however good and committed he might be? http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cardiff-city-transfer-news-derby-9635177 We have Pilks, Noone, Harris, Ameobi, Kennedy. Should we sign Russell then at least 2 of those will go - Noone to be sold and Harris out on loan - again???
Medel to Liverpool. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/transfer-news-liverpool-fc-lining-9636741 This must be a rumour too far.
Just made a very similar comment on the Sammy thread. Too many average players. Off load a few. CB and FB are the same situation.
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cardiff-city-told-only-25m-9646063 We'll have to ship out another couple of players in addition to Adeyemi, and get fees for them, if we're going to pay that sort of amount. However, in reality a fee would be somewhere between £1m and £2.5m, lets say £1.75m then. Do we want/need him that badly?
Not sure a winger is City's priority. A decent box to box, big and athletic midfielder is what is needed. Oh hang on, City have one of those. Or they did until that clown of a manager sent him on loan to Leeds. I despair of the club at the moment.
The last post on this thread was a week ago - that says it all. We were supposed to be well in for Ivory Coast striker Jonathan Kodjia from French club Angers up until yesterday, but it looks like he's gone to the Wurzels instead. Just over £2M for him seems to have done the trick while we hang around waiting to offload Jones or Le Fondre (or both).
In fairness I'd be ****ing tamping if we bought another striker before we offloaded a couple. I understand that we've seemly been beaten to his signature but another striker is surely bottom of the list of priorities.
