Heard some chat about a player swap deal with Le Fondre for him to offset the cost. MM would go for it but apparently Le Fondre wants to go north not east.

Not sure about Murphy myself for the sort on money being talked about - I think we could do better.

It's a bit north isn't it? <whistle> It's north of both Cardiff and Reading anyway.

However, if someone stumps up £2m for ALF and we were to get £2m to £3m for Mason then it works although Mason may actually be better for us with a target man like Murphy (see Gestede/Mason 3 seasons ago).

Nevertheless, the money is too much for Murphy who may well see it as his last payday before hanging up his boots - (see Blobby Fowlup and JFH).

Not sure why we keep looking at players who are no better than what we already have. If ALF is on the move I certainly wouldn't let Mason go. The fact that ALF is linked with a move away suggests Slade isn't going to change the style of play to suit him. A telling message in its own right.

My biggest concern is that I still can't see what Slade is trying to achieve by way of a game plan. Certainly no clue from the speculated ins and outs, other than 442 and the long ball may be the way!!!!

    More crap from WoL.

    http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cardiff-city-target-three-new-9511860

Competition for Peltier? Do we not have Connolly and Fabio who both play at right back? Maybe Fabio prefers left back where we have Malone and John fighting for places. Personally I think defence is covered unless some of the current squad are marked for departures. But what the hell is being done about central midfield?

We all know that is where the main problem lies but do the club?

I see Yorwerth has signed for Ipswich. Think we made a mistake on that one. We need a few more youngsters coming through. If he'd gone to a 1st or 2nd division side I wouldn't have said so much.

    Could well be right remote.

Barry Tiger saw a lot of Development Squad games and rated him highly.

However, with 5 cb's on our books, effectively ranking above him, it is difficult to see when he would get game time.

The fact that he has gone to a good Championship club is positive for the lad and, maybe, Cardiff gave him some help/recommendation along the way.

Hope the decision doesn't come back to bite us.

Is the lack of signings now becoming a concern?

City play Fulham in 6 weeks.

Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that on Wednesday, 24th June 2015, Maxi Amondarain’s contract with the club was terminated by mutual agreement. The player leaves Cardiff City with immediate effect.

The departure of the invisible man. Nobody saw him leave (or play either). I know the last bit's wrong but unless you saw the Development Squad you didn't see him play.

Hope he's followed by Kiss, Velikonja, Joe Lewis (no disrespect to Joe who never let us down but he's got to go), ALF who wants to go back up't North and KWJ. I'd like to see Guerra stay as he's never really had a chance and has a good scoring record in Spain. However, too many bridges to be rebuilt so he'll be on his way.

I hope VT's not holding on to the transfer kitty until some or all of these are off the books. That would be really counter productive.

If cost cutting is a major drive, Slade needs to thin out his ranks of mediocre players from the lower leagues and give one or two of these a chance (at least on the bench).

I'm all for a couple of quality signings, but would prefer to see a few youngsters get some game time rather than average journeymen.

If we're going to be mid-table, might as well do it with players that come through the ranks.

If correct Sheepy, then how the world has changed in 12 months.

This time last year they were offloading anyone to cut costs and Federici and Pearce have left them this summer.

I hope its down to the money and not that we are an unattractive proposition. However, that wouldn't surprise me and doesn't auger well for any quality signings.

Steve Clarke or Slade? It's not a hard decision to understand if Quinn has gone to Reading.

He's not what we needed IMO but we'll lose this battle every time as there's little doubt Slade has zero reputation or respect from anyone who's spent their career in the top 2 leagues.

heard that Newcastle are going to give ameobi a new contract and will be sending him out on a one year loan, and that we have enquired about him, could be a very good move for us,but will he want to drop down to the championship.

We need to decide where we are headed as a club. We have a number of out and out wide players including Pilkington, Noone and Harris together with others who can and do play wide such as Whitts, Ralls, Mason, Kennedy and Fabio. Most of these have been at the club for some time (Kennedy being the exception) so we know what they can do. If we need replacements, some of these need to be moved on. I'd rather permanent signings but one or two season long loans are ok. However, it suggests that the loanee will be first choice, else we aren't signing better than what we already have. If they are first choice then we need to reduce our squad further. We need some padding in the squad but need to ensure the players we keep have some sort of future in the club and that we don't end up with a large squad of average / similar players.

And FFS Slade, do something about the centre of the park!!!!!!

ccfcremote asks where the club is headed.

    Mid table mediocrity at best.

The transfer targets, whether press fed or genuine leads, are decidedly lack lustre.

As it stands undoubtedly another disappointing season beckons. Granted there will be some good days, but by and large the better equipped clubs will turn us over.
