Don't actually hate any of them. Their existence is merely to play Saints at some point, so I'm kind of happy they are there really. It's kind of nice that the whole football world is set up so that Southampton FC can have something interesting to do. Just think, the whole charade nearly came close to ending 6 years ago. After all, what would be the point.?
Right now, its Liverpool and Spurs for obvious reasons but, no doubt that will change when something else dastardly happens. I've kind of forgotten about Pompey but I always look for their results and hope they lose!
Pompey - Even taking the rivalry out of the occasion my first derby was in the League Cup in 2003, they're behaviour during the 'silence' will ensure they are always top of the list. Spurs - Never really liked Tottenham from the Hoddle/Deano situation through to the Poch thing - also don't like how they sack managers for not getting top 4 when it should be an ambition for them and not an expectation. Cardiff City - Horrible club with a horrible fanbase.
Spurs top for most of the above reasons, plus the fact they were managed by Redknapp for a while (you know, the one who unearthed that hidden gem in Bale despite pretty much every Saints fan knowing he was special at the time?) Liverpool second. Not just for what they did last season, I can get beyond that as the players mainly failed, but more for this belief that they have a divine right to the top 4 and think every argument with them can be shut down with the word 'history'. Third is tough... I guess Gus Poyet FC probably takes the spot for all his antics at Brighton and Sunderland so I look forward to a new team to dislike in the near future. Don't particularly hate any in the current top 4. I dislike Man U, but City on their day play some brilliant football as do Arsenal, then Chelsea have Jose who I can't help but like.
Strewth Guys........Hate is a bit of a strong word for me. As far as I know I don't hate anyone. I don't particularly like some Pompey fans but the club itself doesn't bother me. To be honest I don't give the club the time of day. As I have said before I have had some very good Pompey fan mates. As I used to tell them I cant help them if they were so deluded! Nearest I have come is a sad dislike for Millwall fans followed by United plastics. Liverpool are doing their best to alienate me followed by spurs. But Hate......Nah......... doesn't do it for me!!
I don't hate anyone or anything. I mildly dislike (and these might seem odd choices): Bournemouth: Last time we played them one of their fans was giving it large to a Saints family group walking along Old Northam Road. The dad of the family was just saying "look, we're just a family on our way home from football, please leave us alone" and the Bournemouth guy just kept going till the family stopped and spoke to a policeman. Then we got on the bus outside Yates and a huge ruck erupted round the bus. Police baton charges and all. Reading: I spoke to one of their fans after our last match in the friendly way one does and he just said, in front of Onionman Jr, "I don't give a f*ck about Southampton". Then later another big fight, this time inside Yates. Localish teams whose fans feel they have something to prove when they play us. Not looking forward to the Bournemouth game, to be honest. The nutter element of their crowd seems to want to force a rivalry that we don't care about. Vin
I properly despised Pompey about 5-10 years ago (especially as I used to live in a PO postcode and was surrounded by them when they all came out of the woodwork), but they're just totally irrelevant now. I don't even know who their manager is and couldn't name one of their current players. 1. Liverpool: yes, they were once the best club in the country but that was generations ago. Wolves, Preston, Old Etonians etc. also used to regularly win the league and cups once upon a time but their fans don't live in a delusional time-warp. A team that hasn't won the league for 25 years is not a big club. Teams like Red Star Belgrade and Marseille were winning the Champions League even after Liverpool last won a league. 2. Spurs: delusions of grandeur. Again, their only honour in 25 years is one solitary League Cup. I.e the same as Birmingham, Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Swansea. Leicester have even won two since then FFS. 3. Rangers: the other Saints on here who live in Scotland will understand. Bigoted neanderthals who were rightly punished, but continue to play the victim card and spend money they don't have.
My list came about in the 80s and despite being from hythe, I've never begrudged Pompey success (unless they are above us). 1. Liverpool - just due to the volume of plastic fans in my youth. Hasn't changed over time 2. Tottenham - not sure why, but it runs deep! 3. Manure - again plastic fans and always disliked them most at home and away games. Don't actually hate anyone and always support them all in Europe (except maybe Liverpool)
Agree - I have hated Spurs ever since that game My three: 1. Liverpool - for many reasons but mostly because my mother supports them and she is Southampton born and bred 2. Spurs - As mentioned above 3. Pompey - Traditional choice, mostly for comic effect these days
Nope. Me too, though not in my top three. The only time I've ever genuinely been scared for my safety at a football ground was playing Cardiff.
Yeah every fans have their bunch of idiots, but from my experience with Cardiff fans, it's definitely NOT the minority with them...
Nah, hate is way too strong. My feelings towards those clubs falls into the pantomime villain bracket.
