Not sure you are right there Mike - when Vinnie came he had a bad reputation and was slaughtered by many "experts" because of his lack of football ability but I think the time he spent at Leeds saw him blossom into a giant. Don't think we would have achieved half of what we did without him - a legend for me (might have to change my user name now I think of it). If Barton could embrace that spirit I think he could be the same. Not certain Vinnie grew up totally mind, wasn't there a story about him taking a shotgun into Wilko's office demanding to be picked
If you're right about Barker this season is getting interesting for sure - what is the source for that (I know it has ben rumoured) but what makes you say he is signing today?
The Man City winger at Leeds is Adam Drury and he has no club after City released him. he's with the lads doing pre season and will probably play in a friendly. Love to know the full SP on this kid as he's 21 and was the leader of the City kids and first name on the team sheet but didn't break through. Went to St Mirren last year on loan? Luke Garbutt signed a new 5-year deal at Everton. Any bets on if he'll be back in tandem with his mate Byram playing RB and Garbutt at LB again
Think its 50/50 could make our team or could destroy it,not worth the risk with the big money wage needed as well IMO.Might be like Vinnie on the pitch but hes no Vinnie,Vinnie was one of the lads would come out and have a chat with the Leeds fans before going in the dressing room at away games, and give out any spare free tickets he had.
Never seen Drury play but there are pictures of him at TA today and is on a two week trial apparently, just wiki'd him (I know) and it says he is just as comfortable as a right winger or full back (sounds like Byram although he's not a true winger). With Berardi, Wootton & Coyle there I wonder if Cellino was happy to pay high for Wood because he knows Byram is on his way? Just a theory mind!
I think Byram is on his bike because just seen some quotes from Cellino on twatter: I try and keep him, I try and build a team around him. I like to keep better players ......... He has a value and if Everton reach that number he is playing with Luke Garbutt next term
If Drury does well in his trial and we go for the highly rated lad at Chesterfield I wouldn't worry about all 3 going and couldn't slate Cellino if that is what he is doing because it makes financial sense - as long as Wood is not the only outlay!!!
Shams. Couldn't agree more. This says we are serious about having a go at promotion either now or in the near future and if we sign good players it persuades other better players to join. Whether he is a success or not we signed a player that was well sought after .
