Good Morning Everyone, It's the hottest day of the year today, and with temperatures getting into the 90's today, drink plenty of water!!! It's a sizzling day on the Elland Road front too. Chris Wood has passed his medical at Elland Road, and has agreed a four year contract at the club. Last night Wolves withdrew their bid for the 23 year old striker (after it became public knowledge they didn't have a chance.) Isn't it nice for a player that we rally want to choose our club over a competitor? That would not have happened a few years ago. Let's just hope that the sacking of Nigel Pearson does not put spanners in the works.... Steve Thompson has joined the coaching staff at Preston. I'm sure Grayson will get the best out of him. What is the next position Leeds need to tighten up on?
Morning glad to see we got another player through the door and one we've wanted for a couple of years now. I'm guessing the signing will be announced today. Saw the new home kit was leaked yesterday on Twitter. I'm 50/50 about it. I'm guessing it's like the England shirt it's going to have to grow on me
Morning ... big outlay for Wood, but much needed ... we still need another striker for sure, a holding midfielder to protect the defence, and we badly need some creativity ... at least we're looking a lot more positive and surely this points to going for a place in the play-offs rather than accepting a top half finish ... let's see if we can get some more quality in soon, hopefully before the squad goes on tour Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Hope the signing shows intent of future signings. I don't think the kit revealed on twitter is real. The shirt and shorts are a different shade, shirts look too tight, and the players may have difficulty in turning etc, and on the corner of the shorts, it looks suspiciously like a macron logo. please log in to view this image
I'm pretty confident that kit is real. It's the same one that leaked months ago with GFH as the sponsor. There's also some pics of it on a hanger. We'll see though.
Rumour has it Wood will sign tomoz, but if true expect to see Billy Sharp sold and Morison sold or given a freebie to get them off the wage bill. Cellino is working to a budget on salaries remember and expect Doukara and Antonucci to be less expensive options. Which means our 2 new strikers with these 2 and a kid as our 5 strikers for the season. Feeling more confident but until we see how we're going to line up and who else is coming and GOING as Byram may be gone too. We need to see how the new coach gets them at it. Pleased for Grayson and Tommo and expect PNE to have a good season
Good morning all... I still think Wood is too expensive, however it does show intent and ambition for a pleasant change. Assuming this one does get over the line today it is also a nice change to have the majority of the squad in place before the friendlies start. Fingers crossed for one of the pacey wide men we are said to be going after It is looking better but I agree with previous comments, we still need a bit more quality, squad as it stands wouldn't finish in the top 6 although I have no doubt we wouldn't be the wrong end either.
Doc I do believe that Sharp is going back to the Blunt as a make weight for the Murphy deal and I can see Morison getting booted out for free. Here's hoping the Wallies need a new striker
Elland, what's 90 when you put it in to Centigrade? did anybody see it managed to reach 43c at Wimbledon yesterday?
Morning Doc, yeah Sharp and Moro need to get off our wage list. Cellino is not the selling kind, unless ridiculous offers come in. I remember when Fulham bid 11m for McCormack, we were all urging the Italian one to take the money.
Morning all,Elland as for tight shirts, the ALL BLACKS had or still do have tight shirts, thought to improve performance and stops opponents grabing them easy.
Big news at WBA Terry Burton gone and Mervyn Day gone too, so maybe an opportunity to get Day into the backroom team as he's a proper scout, goalkeeping coach and has history with us too. If we get the pacey man City kid in it could move us up another gear this season because he was the kids player of the year, ever present in the team, England U-17 and did that at 15 yo, and must be a mate of Lewis Cook's?
Every team who gets promoted has a prolific goal scorer,Wood just may be that goalscorer.with the other lads adding a few, think our team are borderline play-offs at the moment but a few more good players
Morning all, Wood is a nice start, Murphy from the blunts would give us a good wide option as well....
Morning all, delighted to get Woods, hopefully it'll help other targets to decide to join and that the club is going in the right direction.
