That is quite telling and my guess is that he was only suppose to be a stop gap and if he was better than expected, would be a long term solution. I haven't seen anything that would suggest he is good enough at our level, but I am happy to be proved wrong.
I wouldn't be surprised if Wengers striker targets are still the same. I don't think he feels we NEED to add but perhaps if the right player comes along. If Higuaine or Benzema become available. I could see either of those coming to us.
That's a step down - they don't even have an European football next year do they, and finished mid table?
Apparently it's 60 years since neither Milan club played in Europe Citeh were managing to buy "big names" before they were in Europe,I'm sure I read somewhere that Milan were getting some big money backing
That's interesting if they are getting some money back, though I was hoping they'd go down the Athletico, Porto, Dortumnd route and use their contacts to identify gems or develop their own players. I had heard that Bellusconi wants to sell his shares, so maybe that's where the money's coming from, or maybe it's the mafia...
Rumours that Southampton will let Shneiderlin leave this transfer window. For what it's worth one of the bookies has Arsenal as odds on favourites to sign him.
Yeah I heard he'd said (or at least the newspapers 'said' he'd said it) that his future would be sorted out next week. He'd previously said he wants to play in the Champions League, and I can't see Man U, Man C or Chelsea having a crying need for him (Man U could use him, but they've got Carrick, Blind, Herrera, Fellani ect to provide physicality/simple passing in the centre of midfield). So you'd think we'd be favs to sign him. Still not totally convinced, but between him and Coq we'll be sorted in the DM position. But equally we may not be in for him at all, and as he hasn't got any other options (and doesn't want to play in the Europa for Spurs) then he may sign another contract with Saints with a buy-out clause.
So he might be staying or he might be going or he might come to Arsenal but he might not. Have you been reading the Sun again ?
I hope we will sign Schneiderlin....more important than a striker in my view. Offensively, we will always create and score. Defensively it would be nice to be solid from the get go. Closing games down with Coquelin and Schneiderlin or winning a game with Ramsey and Wilshere in the middle....many nice options to have!
To be honest its a hard one to call. Technically we could do with the signing of Schlinderlin, but I can quite easily see Wenger not bothering and staying with our current crop of players. We simply have too many midfielders and one of Flamini or Arteta would have to go to make way. Both those can technically step in for Coqs. I hope Flamini gets back to some form for next season.
No rumours about Flamini leaving. He is also happy at Arsenal, so Wenger will have to shove him out the door to make anything happen.
He wasnt that bad in the first season, but then suddenly his form nose dived and he hasnt come back to the same level.
If we are serious about getting to another level we should be looking at life with Flamini now. We are not trying to make do anymore, right?
