Doubtful. You could certainly argue that we could find players more up for it and therefore, perhaps, get a better standard of performance out of them. But not the same level of talent. But as I've said before, the manager has to find a way to motivate these individuals.
If Jelavic isn't willing to drop down and play championship football, then I presume he is fairly confident his Knees will hold out. I'm hopeful top flight clubs will be wary of his injury record and we have his services, at least up to January. He'll tear the championship apart if he stays fit, then if we do sell in January we should get a lot more than the reported £3m asking price.
Can't believe some of the bollocks on the last few pages. Hernandez just needs a bit more time but Quinn will be easily replaced? Madness.
I'd like us to keep Quinn, he's a very decent Championship squad player, we need players like this, but one of the first names on the team sheet, no. Did he have some better games than say Huddleston, yes, but is he actually a better player, no.
I would say Quinn one of the better players in the promotion season, i wouldn't say the best player though........... I can't really remember anything he did good in the first season in the premier and only really played in the last dozen or so of this season. Yes we could do with him to sign on again this season though
Huddlestone had very few good games last season, and even the season before he was overrated. Quinn simply got fewer chances. Reputation and hype will wither and fade unless backed up with enough performances.
I'd have put Rosenior, Chester, Hobbs, Koren, Fryatt, Elmo, Aluko, Gedo and Faye all above Quinn that season.
Huddlestone is still a better player than Quinn. EDIT: Don't get me wrong I like the player, he puts in a shift and in the Championship he may do ok, but last season he looked a bit like a Jack Russell running around trying to grab the ball from the bigger dogs EDIT 2: If Huddlestone wasn't any good the season beforehand, why were a lot of folk including many pundits calling for him to be in the England squad???
Fryatt didnt play apart from 2-3 games. Hobbs was injured too for a lot of it. Gedo!! Only played a few. Aluko half a season.
Hype. And that whole 'hair story' gave him publicity, even though ironically it just highlighted how little he scores. He was one of those who didn't even bother playing in the final league games as well, not a big enough stage for him I assume lol. Good players play well in less publicised games not just the ones the media focuses on.
I'm wrong about Fryatt, but Gedo was on loan from Christmas and scored 5-6 goals in about 10-12 games, Hobbs played 20 or so games and was IMO our best defender, Aluko played 20 or so games and scored 8, all of them performed better than Quinn.
No you are, Gedo scored 5 goals (nearly 1 in 2) in just a few games, he then got a niggling foot injury. Just because Quinn wasn't injured and Gedo was doesn't make him a better player. Gedo did more in those few games than Quinn did in a season.
