I've heard a whisper that we've enquired about David Cotterill, who is now at Birmingham. If we/when lose Ince, he'd be a handy and cheap replacement. He's a full Welsh international so he'll know Chester and he worked with Steve Bruce at Wigan. If this is true (the source is a former City player who still lives in the area), perhaps Ince leaving is more of a formality than it already seems.
He seems like one of those players who's been around for ages, he played really well against us in the League Cup for Donny.
Yes. Hardly any of them get a shot off. Of the centre midfielders we've got available (only 3) Quinn and Meyler would be first one the teamsheet for me. They were both excellent in our last Championship season. If Diame was fit I'd still probably try and fit him in. Like Ince, he's just far too good at this level for us to not use him.
To be fair to Quinn, he's a decent larker but he's a Championship player. I'd keep him for the experience of the upcoming season, but I wouldn't be gutted to see him leave.
I don't understand why people are saying Bournemouth will come straight back down, I think they'll manage it. They've got plenty of money and a decent spine of a team, I don't think they'll struggle.
We've had this before with Bruce and McShane but why is he just a championship larker? He looked fine in the PL to me. Never thought he looked out of place.
Well he keeps the ball alright and he looks busy, but he doesn't really do anything other than go from side to side with the ball, he doesn't seem to get any crosses or meaningful passes off. The ball sticks to his feet, but then, nothing, he either passes it out wide or gives it to Huddlestone. He, like Meyler, just needs to do a little bit more to be considered good enough to play in the Premier League consistently. I'd say they fall into that category that are too good for the Championship but not quite Premier League.
Some bizarre attitudes/recommendations on here; drive Huddlestone to Bournemouth but advocate some injury prone, slow, never has been replacement in Palacios? David Cotterill, Daryl Murphy, Macheda????? Seriously?? 31 pages and about the only decent shout is Adam Le Fondre (and Jordan Rhodes if realistic) It's like no-one owns Football Manager beyond the 2012 version.....
Go on, I'll bite. What kind of transfer rumours were you expecting? I'd take Cotterill any day of the week, he's done well at pretty much any Championship club he's been at and wouldn't cost a fortune, leaving money for elsewhere. If it turns out good, I think he'll be a good acquisition.
