I want us to sign Emerson Hyndman. He is an American playing in the U-20 world cup for the USA and plays as a midfielder for Fulham. He only played in 9 games last season but I am telling you from watching him he is going to be a hell of a midfielder and at 19 we could probably get him for a decent price. I would also take Rubio Rubin he is an american striker also playing in the U-20 world cup for the USA and he plays for FC Utrecht in the Dutch top division and is also 19. I have been really impressed with both and think they are going to be really good players.
Didn`t we sign the next `big` American star few years back, and look how that turned out ! actually replicated his scintillating form at Sunderland too
Thats true but this is different. One of them is English and the other is Dutch, hell one of them already plays in the Championship. They are only "Americans" by their birth location as during the game they said that one had moved away at the age of 1 and the other at the age of 5. They are part of the new breed of USMNT players being the breed that is pulled from other countries and not the US. We certainly cant go by the Altidore career as the only possible path someone who plays for the USMNT. You do that you discount Bradley, Dempsey, Howard, Guzan, etc or even Myhill who qualified to play for the USMNT as he was born here in California. There are certainly people who qualify to play for us that are decent.
We should sign some power rangers, if we'd have signed power rangers last summer or in January we'd still be a premier league club.
If a team wants to pay £3M for him then let them. We break even on the fee we paid and have some cash to find a couple of bargains (if they exist in football these days)
I think Id rather keep him tbh, he had a great first season no great 2nd season. Not sure if thats to do with not getting another contract but I don't think we could get better for £3m
Not when Davies has just one year left on his deal with us. £3m plus his wages off the books helps with the cost cutting.
If he plays like he did last time there are 2 CB at SJ I would rather have who would cost almost nothing and whose salaries are probably less than some of our development players. (Goodson, and Bernardez, USMNT and the Hondurous National Team).
Unless Bernardez has dual nationality with an EU country, we wouldn't get a work permit for him, as Honduras aren't in the top 75 ranked FIFA nations. They're currently 76th. Might be a blessing in disguise, it'll mean less risky foreign imports for us.
I wasn't actually suggesting we sign them just using it as an example that there are solid CB out there that are cheep. Bernardez is a really solid CB and I really would take him though but I really doubt we will be looking at MLS CBs. CB does seem like a position that there is less risk involved when the player is foreign.
I think with CB we're alright, provided we keep them, we'll have Chester, Davies, Dawson, Bruce, Maguire and, if we finally get to see any of him, Max Clark, although I think he's been turned into a midfielder now.
Clark playing on the left of the 3 at the back would be ideal to ease him into Championship football, would make us more balanced too. Davies was uncomfortable there and so was Macca.
I'd like to see an experienced striker come in alongside Assombalonga if two of ours leave. Assombalonga is an explosive youngster we've been linked with before and one thing we're crying out for up front is pace!
