This thread is an utter embarrassment from start to finish!

On Gooners would have the sheer arrogance to proclaim themselves "London's most successful club" when they don't have a European trophy to their name!

I'd laugh, if only it wasn't so sad and so desperate.

We have two European trophies to our name <ok>

As well as 13 league titles
and 12 FA cups

And a far superior trophy haul to any other London club, hence the title about Arsenal being London's most successful club.

It's not actually that hard to work out if you can count, but you obviously lost count when you ran out of fingers HIAG <laugh>

It makes me laugh that there is a debate currently raging in the media about whether or not Arsenal can "push on" next season and win the title!
<rofl>

For ****sake! All they did was beat lowly Villa in a domestic cup competition that none of the true powerhouses in Europe give a monkey's toss about! And suddenly blinkered Wenger (still laughingly referred to by Gooners as "Le Prof") is a world-beater!

You couldn't make it up!

A domestic cup that your lowly club hasn't been able to win since 1991 <whistle>

Not just us, of course, but many teams who would be expected to do better in that competition.

Nonetheless, well done to Arsenal (even Jack Wiltshire). I genuinely look forward to seeing Arsenal lose to Chelsea in the charity shield at the start of next season.

All the big clubs including Everton,Liverpool,Man City,Man Utd,Chelsea,Portsmouth,and obviously ourselves have won the FA Cup since 1991<whistle>

Yes, even lowly Birmingham City won it not so long ago. I can't remember who they beat...
<whistle>

Yeah,hands up, I'm not too hot on my Arsenal facts.

But I never let that get in the way of my passing comment.

My point is, who gives a **** about football back then? It was barely the same sport. Maybe cut the North-East off and let it be independent so Newcastle and Sunderland can be the world's two baldest men fighting over its largest comb
Likewise football was ruined in 1992. So anything since doesn't count.

That is if you want to play the game of picking arbitrary periods of time and completely write them off.

At last a comment I can applaud you for <laugh>

I'm always brutally honest, PISKIE; which is why my voice is so greatly admired on this site, by so many fans.

I'm not picking arbitrary periods of time and football wasn't ruined in 1992. Bizarre thing to say.

Pre-WWII trophies won just aren't given the same credence and certainly not those from before WWI. Maybe you celebrate the anniversary of Sunderland winning the league in the 1880s but I doubt anyone else does.

You are picking arbitrary periods of time. If they don't count why are they still in the record books?

As for picking 1992, the year of the creation of the premier league, which you call bizarre, is no less bizarre than saying we only won those titles because the country was at war. Can yours be dismissed because of the war in Afghanistan?

I didn't say you won them because the country was at war. I said no one now gives a **** about Victorian era football. They're in the record books because they are records- records only you seem to care about.

Bury won the FA cup in 1900 and 1903 including a record high win. Do you consider them giants of FA cup history?
