Always sad when a respected pro is allowed to leave, for me Rosie is quality and dependable both on and off the pitch, but hasn`t Bruce suggested that he is looking at youth, unfortunately with our fall into the Championship cuts have to be made, if this promotes a youngster such as Lennihan into the first team squad (if he is good enough) then so be it. Football is a harsh world, and I for one will be sad to see him leave as I always expected him to move into a coaching role with the club, but the cost of relegation seems to be biting. There is dead wood and high earners still to be shifted on, and I`ll reserve judgement until we know the shape and personnel of the squad at the start of the season, however I really hope Rosie gets a club and quick (which I`m certain he will), and wish him well, hopefully in the future he will return in some form of coaching/ management capacity as he appeared to have the club at heart.
This is what I would have liked to happen. He has a good rapport with the fans and seems to have an affection for Hull and the club. So many times the "good guys" get thrown out. I accept that he would get limited game time but he might have been happy with that knowing he could have a role at the club in the future.
Thank you Liam for many happy memories. Good luck for the future. I'm sure you'll find a good home at another club you certainly deserve to.
Who trashed his hotel room - on this thread? Tell me, who is a better fullback than Rosie? He's your favourite player, why? Sorry TOM, but this is all wrong, you would have been better posting nothing.
Nine pages And I bet no one knows the truth yet? Has to be something like he wanted a longer deal than we could afford... Or he has just dropped right out of favour as he has been poor in training. I can't believe it wasma decision made oblivious to the sentiment on this thread, so you would hope there is more too it.
You cant be posting common sense on here. He's 31 in July.. We may have only offered him a 1 year deal, he will have been after 2 or 3 if he could. While he as carried himself well and is a credit to the club, it always comes down to money. He's got 3 or 4 kids and this is his last deal, dont think his agent hasnt been sounding out clubs for awhile. Thats just the way it is.
We may not have offered him a contract at all. In fact I'd be surprised if we had, given the financial consequences of relegation.
True we may not. Bruce has tough decisions to make. Does anyone seriously think he is going to treat Rosenior shabbily? I dont.
It's becoming a regular thing for some on here to express their doubts with confidence in the hope it looks like inside knowledge, even when it's no more than an opinion or gossip, or worse, deliberate mischief. Shamefully, others latch on and embellish the fiction. It wouldn't be as bad if they acknowledged their failures, but they don't, they try and rewrite the question. At the minute nobody on here knows the reality, some will wait, others will choose to invent the worse case and assume it's true.
We do need players so we have to pay someone. Like you say at his age he maybe knows he can get a longer deal somewhere else and he has to take security over sentiment. It doesn't make sense to add a new contract to a club at needs to save money for a lad his age. But that assumes we have cover and the club must be sure privately that we won't need to pay more in fees to get anyone. And it suggests someone under contract like Elmo has agreed to stay. It's harsh and not great but to suggest the club are blind to the impact is a bit harsh I think. I like Ashbees quote on Twitter but I dont think it's as simple as a club not caring. I bet it hurts Bruce as much as us. I am sure we offered him something but he needs to take the longest contract he can as an over thirty player.
IF the club are refusing point-blank to offer him a new contract, (2 years wouldn't be unreasonable) then I think this is shocking. He is a quality Championship player. But it is an IF - there could well be more to it and all we have now is stunned speculation.
We are many millions of pounds down, there will be further contentious decisions to be made and unfortunately there is no room for sentiment.
What??? 4-4-2 cannot be an option then? Are we going to be a one-trick-pony? McShane has eclipsed Davies in the PL, so in the Championship get shot of Davies. Why do you think Davies would want to play for Bruce or why would Bruce suddenly find Davies more playable? What hint, clue, sign in the sky in the whole ****ing world have you seen to think that? How much time did Chester lose through injury? Are Lenihan and Maguire proven and McShane and Rosie not players at their prime? Why are we going to rid ourselves of proven, loyal servants for no apparent reason? I'm sorry Chazz, but your need to support the logic in this is highly questionable.
There is more to it. We can't give out new contracts when we need to save wages. It's just simple finance. Not sentiment. If we pay him we have to sell someone else and be sure we can sell. Or we end up with a higher wage bill than we have now! People are making out like a new contract is just a simple thing and easily done. Wake up! Maybe he has an offer of more elsewhere so we can't match it. Stop speculating and wait. He fact he was being touted as a future coach shows everyone wanted him to stay. Until we went down and harsh financial reality bites!
Just to add to the character reference for this guy, he has recently helped my son with his degree course, willingly giving up his free time for no personal gain, just simply happy to help. He is clearly an intelligent and articulate individual and he won't need Hull City to make a success of himself. I can't help but think that senior management in most other businesses would want to keep someone like Rosenior on the payroll, but not here. I wish him all the best.
That may well be true, but he still can and will play right back for us if needed though. Elmo is first choice rb or rwb. He was in the championship and the premier league. He has been one of our best and consistent performers for three years. He is part of Bruce's plans, Liam unfortunately is not. I agree Rosenior is a better defensive player than elmo. I would like to see him stay. Unfortunately though, tough decisions must be made and Liam has drawn the short straw.
The facts are if our injured players come back ok! Then would rosy get a game? He's hardly featured so it's dead money sat on the bench! That's the reality of cutting costs! I'd have kept macca, but if he's out of contract it's a financial reason he's not getting renewed also! If we have daws, Davies, Chester & maguire signed up They'll be the the starters. (Hopefully)
Neither of them come up with the goods when needed. Fryatt scored in the Championship for Forest, but he was overlooked in a struggling team that was going backwards. Hernandez was pants, but two wrongs don't make a right.
