It doesn't matter where you sit, you can pick up things at the game that you'd never get from the box.
I'll give you an example. We played Hull away on New Years Day, I was sat right behind the goal in the front row. We played like drains that day, and what was noticable was that none of the players were talking to each other at set plays or when covering, there was no yelling of instructions or the usual shouts you hear from players during a normal game. Complete silence and the body language was shocking. It screamed out to me that he'd lost the dressing room, as there was no heart or passion on display. All you'd have got from the box was some ropey defending and a couple of slopey goals conceded.
Agree you can pick up on the behavioural aspects.
But I'm talking more about team tactics and structure. You're able to gauge the space in between defenders, the line of defence, the space between midfield and defence etc etc.
