Nice to see a public figure actually back our player, rather than throw him under a bus like so many have.
He's been crap nobody is looking to get at him for no reason. If he proved everyone wrong and was banging goals in we'd all be happy. He's not a scapegoat, he's just crap.
hmmmm hard to get round this one... i think you've pointed out the hgue gaping gash in the balotelli defence here.
He's got two qualities; he can take a penalty and he has very good shot power. One is useless a few times a season and the other matters diddly because he's unable to hit the target.
He clearly is a scapegoat. He gets called lazy, but anyone who actually watches him will see that he actually does work hard. The same people seem to turn a blind eye when Sturridge players, but like to pretend that Sturridge is a hard worker who presses well. And the same people seem to give players like Lallana a free ride also. Not saying Mario has been hit, but he's not been the worst player this season. Nowhere near close.
Yeah I agree he gets called lazy as default and he can be, at times he works hard and this is where his quality lacks as he gets that wrong running towards the play when that is exactly what the likes of Coutinho doesn't want or running wide when there is no need to. Sturridge is lazy but he holds his position and worries defenders so is effective even when not scoring, he's been poor but he's been injured so has an excuse in my mind.
Sort of agree with you bar the first bit; Mario gets called lazy because he is lazy. You don't get the same label at four clubs by default. Besides that, I make my own judgement on players and I call him lazy too. Why, because he is! Studge doesn't have the work rate of Luis Suarez, not many players do. But as you rightly said, he holds his position and makes it hard for the opposition. On top of that, Studge makes runs off the ball when we have possession too, something else Mario refuses to do.
He is lazy I'm not saying otherwise only that when he decides to put the effort in it's headless chicken time and he's all over the place it's a shocking combination, quite simply he's not and never has been (imo) a very good player. Others have been poor also not saying otherwise either but Balotelli gets the stick he deserves and I really hope his short time with the club is up.
Not saying that Mario has been good but we've hardly played to his strengths. Rodgers has imposed a system on these players and it's why they have all regressed, bar Coutinho.
OR these players have been bought that doesn't suit the system and philosphy.. balotelli was never going to suit us the dogs i nthe street knew it. we cannot say rodgers plays good football lets keep him in one breath and then say he's got to use direct style players in the other. this is the paradox at anfield. there seem to be two philosophies pulling against each other and its not working
