Not doubting your loyalty to the club. We're all loyal to the club.
But in terms of playing staff - it's easier to be loyal to the manager/players when we're winning. Paisley didn't show much sentiment when getting rid of under-performing players.
Paisley played a massive part in getting LFC to an FA Cup final, scored against Everton in the semi-final and was dropped for the final, so Paisley learned through experience there's no room for sentiment in the game the hard way, that's why he had no problem dropping/selling players players he thought weren't up to the job.

All the best managers are ruthless when it comes to team selection and moving on players who are past their peak. There's no place for sentiment in a game where at the highest level games are won at lost right at the margins.

Exactly - loyatly is a myth in football IMO. The only people who are loyal are the fans to the clubs.
We take a ruthless approach to players but why is the thought of applying the same logic to manager, or any other employee at the club deemed unacceptable?
Surely you want to replace what you have with something even better?
Of course, but its down to the manager and his transfer funds and his rep and art of persuasion.
Van Beavis is seen as a "genius" for attaining what looks like a top 3 finish this season despite the MK Dons humiliation and getting knocked out of the FA Cup, Rodgers did better than him last season for us(Suarez)but is being talked of as a possible to lose his job this summer by some.
Rodgers knows his signings either keep him at Anfield or not and FSG ain't gonna give him mega-bucks like last summer.
As billy said he's a young manager learning his trade, but his apprenticeship should have been served elsewhere because its all about success, CL football and money in the Prem and managers that fail with that are 10 a penny, Allardyce, Redknapp etc etc.

Going back on the age thing - I'm not sure it is an excuse. There are plenty of other young managers who have achieved more than Rodgers and on limited budgets. They have created competitive squads that perform well domestically and in Europe.
Maybe I'm being harsh on Rodgers but I think this club needs better, and tough decisions need to be made.
However you've gone slightly away from my point....my point was how can you show this bizarre loyalty to players like Balotelli and Sakho who have never shown a willingness to put their body on the line for Liverpool? On the other hand you continually slate players like Hendo and Skrtel who show total commitment on the pitch.
As for the age of the manager....I seem to remember a whole host of posters clamouring for Dalglish to be sacked because he was "out of touch" and "LFC need a younger, more vibrant manager"
Many rejoiced at him being replaced by a younger guy....now many of the same people want him sacked for someone more experienced. The simple fact is swapping managers when there isn't oil money to build a new squad overnight very often leads to a club going no further than sideways....and often going backwards.Rodgers record isn't great and undoubtedly he is on borrowed time if it doesn't improve but as far as I'm concerned the owners made their bed sacking Kenny for Rodgers so they can damn well lie in it a bit longer (especially as he got us closer to winning a league than we've been in twenty years).
As an outsider I'd be interested to hear how that logic works as well.
The least you demand from a player is 100% committment, when they don't deliver it, fans aint daft, they can see who's putting it in and who's going through the motions.
Joking aside I think that does make a difference, as the TV cameras always follow the ball, whereas at the game you can watch a particular players movement and body language off the ball and away from the play.Sometimes I think players must look different on Sky than they do from the stands
I've said it many times on here before. Last season I stuck up for Skrtel on here many times when certain posters were slating him but being at the game you could see the amount of times he was literally deserted by his centre half partner, midfield cover and especially his full back.
The reason I don't rate Sakho anywhere near as highly is because I watch him. I watch his movement and his reactions and believe me the guy hasn't played anywhere near as well as some on here would have you believe.

I defended Skrtel a lot last season, for the same reasons too. I watched every game on TV.

You're confusing loyalty with admiration for quality.
There is a reason why I rate Sakho - because he's our best centre back (I know you'll disagree!).
Once Sakho gets to an age where he is consistently under-performing, believe me, I'll be on his case and I'll be looking at replacements.
Also - I never said anything about Rodgers being young. My point was that people are using his age as an excuse for his poor performance, when there are a lot of other young managers who aren't making the same mistakes and performing better - proving that age shouldn't be a factor.
Re. the TV vs stadium debate - it depends on where you sit. Unless you sit high up AND centrally (either behind the goal) or on the half way line, you're view of the pitch is skewed.
As ever Billy, will disagree on you re. Sakho's positioning - it's very good which is why he is rarely beaten. The only times he is exposed is when Moreno is caught out, thus leaving him with too much space to cover.

It doesn't matter where you sit, you can pick up things at the game that you'd never get from the box.
I'll give you an example. We played Hull away on New Years Day, I was sat right behind the goal in the front row. We played like drains that day, and what was noticable was that none of the players were talking to each other at set plays or when covering, there was no yelling of instructions or the usual shouts you hear from players during a normal game. Complete silence and the body language was shocking. It screamed out to me that he'd lost the dressing room, as there was no heart or passion on display. All you'd have got from the box was some ropey defending and a couple of slopey goals conceded.
