Why is Gerrard wearing a blue top? Is this another one of those photos from when he was a toddler? Seems like it must be as he has banged his nose because he is too young too walk yet.

By the way, Happy Anniversary Liverpool fans.

It is 25 years ago to the day that the Reds won the last of their 18 league titles.

The Daily Mail has worked out they have spent £770m since and signed 190 players.

That 2-1 win over QPR must seem a long time ago now...

Can't remember a "happy anniversary" message to their affiliated club last year for their big 40th anniversary.<whistle>

Sorry to rub it in but, as you can see from the graphic above, Manchester United have been pretty prolific since Liverpool's last title win - 25 years ago today.

Having said that, of the 20 teams in the top flight that season, there are eight not in the Premier League now.

Luton are languishing in League Two, while a few others are in League One.

    It could be worse Reds...

the word competitive and the word quality are not one and the same

I'm sure league 2 is competitive too. The CL shows the standard of english prem.

Tell that to Biscan when he uses Getafe getting beat 6 nil by Barca as a defence of the PL then ;)

You ate his bait, I was waiting for him to say what you just said <laugh>

    bigger fishie gulped it down.

The quality is spain is confined IMO to the top as at the top they have huge money from TV and getafe have to live on scraps

550 mil per year in spain. real and barca take 220mil... thats leaves the rest to be shared out by in accordance with their draw.

    getafe in 2013/14 got 18mil.

    18.....

last year cardiff finihsed 20th that got 21mil EQUAL share, then 8.6 mil on facility fees (matches hosted) then 1.6 mil in prize for last place

they took 26mil in forigen tv moeny too...

    http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/...-league-broadcasting-commercial-payments.html

the fact is LFC took 97mil for 2nd and cardiff in 20th got 62million pounds

    62......

this moeny doesn't tkae the english league better just more players get more money for the same standard.

Getafe even trying to compete with barca is pointless but no more pointless than man city, man utd, arsenal or chelsea competing with barca in terms of quality

All true, but my whole point on that anyway was that given such disparity Spanish clubs still compete better on the whole in La Liga and in Europe ;)

So if the cash was spread more even in La Liga, Barca and Real would still be supreme, but the rest of the spanish league would be even MORE competitive in terms of spead of success.

But I am sorry I tried ot bait Biscan now <laugh> I am well and truly done with trying to make people see the PL being a more competitive league is a myth :D There is far more money in the PL too lets not forget. The finances are as lobsided in the PL either way, in terms of available resources for transfers and wages.

for me the reason some compete in europe is that they take it seriously.

I find that clubs like seville and atletico have taken europa really seriously, have built thier uefa co-efficents, built their squads up and are able then to compete in a 2 game a week scenario.

It took atletico 5 years with players leaving to "bigger clubs" and them buying well to replace to get where they got to.

if the cash in spain was more spread out real and barca would not be spending 70mil on the likes of james though...

    .................................

If you mean competitive = myth due to top clubs still winning everything fair enough but the point has to be made that the forbes reports on clubs show that english clubs are awash with cash.. this is why i called it the diarrhea league... (my spell check as used this spelling btw.. sue me RHC) the moeny is pouring in one end and out the other.. right into greedy ****s pockets.

If clubs took their 60 odd mil and built new training grounds and stadiums with it at least fans might point to getting something out of it but they don't really they give it out in wages and don't get any better

oh i forgot to say.. the reason they take it seriously is the 10 mil approx they can get out of europa actually was worth it to them.

Yeah but you need to compare not Liverpool or Spurs to those Spanish teams but Everton or Southampton or a fiinancial equivalent, they do take it seriously.
Chelsea took it quite seriously, United played a full strength squad too, as have we over the years.

To say it's not taken seriously is not accurate. Also, the Spanish teams that did win it, are far better than the equally fiananced sides in the PL, those PL sides just could not win it. The only side that's made a comparable effort on such finances was Woy with Fulham who were soundly beaten in the final.

But lets be honest, most English football fans or fans of the PL in general just make the claim because they automatically think their league superior, and are "proud" of "Engllish football" which is ironic as only 30% of the PL players are from the UK <laugh> where as most players in Spain are Spanish.

    #moneytalks.

A relegated team in the PL gets more than the earnings of a large portion of Spanish teams combined, teams that were not relegated. That's just nuts. Twice as much as Bayern for winning their league.
