It may not have been obvious, but I was actually on your side here. I've long maintained that it's just lazy and inept journalism from the Beeb rather than true bias, though obviously I'm happy to jump on the piss-take bandwagon. I think there may well be a subconscious casual bias for the club down the road (which is wrong, because they're a national organ) but I don't think it's a conspiracy. I do think the standard of sports journalism is dreadful generally. There are so many stories which show either a lack of knowledge, or a lack of interest in their subject, no requirement to check sources or come anywhere near the truth, very little or no editorial control and poor grammar. This latter being a cardinal sin for a journalist, imo.
TBH I have always picked up on you view of "lazy" rather than biased, just having a small pop at others with the paranoia comment
I read something a couple of weeks ago about us - I'm paraphrasing, but it said something like "Liverpool have been struggling lately and many people are pointing to their lack of firepower, but Garth Crooks has a different theory - he thinks it's their defence that's the problem" How can anyone write this nonsense when every man and his guide dog can see our defence is ****, and has been for a long time? Whoever wrote it is obviously oblivious to the real world around him. And the less said about Garth the better, of course - he can't even put players in their right position when he picks his team of the week.
