Right I get it now, like you say they obviously never envisaged it but why was it not protected in the lease? Just a clause to say any decision on a change of usage would have to be approved by the council.

I would imagine that's what HCC are looking at, and want to meet with the SMC about. Last week's statement by HCC suggested that the agreement requires certain obligations regarding the local community but there are people in this world that think business interests come before anything else.

It all depends on the terms of the lease between the Council and the SMC. Something that will be looked into. If the SMC is in breach of the lease agreement the lease could be terminated.

I would imagine Allam will have had his legal team look at the lease and figure out whether he can be stopped or not before announcing anything.

You mean like when he contested the mortgage on the KC. Didn't he end up having to pay it off in full?

How many times have I heard Allam say "I'm not a football fan, I'm a fan of the community"

I'm not sure that stands up too well now.

Always amazes me when people credit Allam with such qualities as foresight, rationality and giving a **** what anyone else tells him.

Someone connected to the wrestling show at the airco has just been given air time on RH to put his case. He said if the wrestling has to move the city of Hull will not be featured on national television every week.

Why? Are they dropping any mention of City and the rugby clubs?

HDM are doing a photo shoot there at 2.00pm today if anyone fancies getting themselves in the paper, it seems that both the HDM and RH are getting on board with this one.

    I've changed my mind.

If this 3G pitch helps one Hull lad break into a premier league first team it's been more valuable than any number of amateur sports.

    Airco for Allam.

A premier league Football club isnt a community based club anymore - once it has drank from the cup its just another behemoth organisation .
Fortunately we remember these clubs for what they were .
However these small clubs of the community that use the facilities serve a greater purpose than HCAFC ever can , let alone the unlikely hope that our city could nurture any world class talent .

    what a waste

And what reason is there that Hull couldn't nurture any world class talent?

    None.

It's just as likely that the next crop of Hulls own youngsters brought through on this magnificent new 3G pitch could be the next 'golden generation' rivalling uniteds class of 92, setting up the foundations of the England national team for the next decade.

Would this move have been such a waste then?

The City hasn't managed it in some 100yrs of trying , OK our current set up is far off the mark , but in the not too distant past our facilities would have easily equalled everyone else's

The area is home to two England internationals in the past decade alone. They may not have come through our youth system but it proves the talent is there.

In our worst ever days the youth system managed to produce a striker who went on to have a decent career in the premier league.

There is no evidence to suggest that the youth academy will continue to be a failure.

Haaa im not sure if you are arguing for or against my opinion ,
With the lack of HCAFC producing talent of any real distinction , it has not been detrimental to the local community .
If City had produced one Messi , it would have made one or two people very rich but not necessarily impacted on the local community.

The varied clubs that may use the arena have an untold impact on hundreds of families let alone those unable to pop to the park to play sunday league football or rugby .

For me the infrastructure to sustain City is in place , it may be **** for a prem club but feathering a select few shouldnt be at a loss to hundreds of kids around the region .

It won't though. The Premier league need to approve the use of the Airco Arena. They may well say no. Are they really going to side with Allam v the community?

Allam may spend all that money just to have Hull City Council terminate the lease and give it back to the community. What would that do for our youth prospects?

Last season Hull City paid over £7 million to Allamhouse. He could a built an indoor arena anywhere in Hull or the East Riding with that money. Instead he goes for the cheapest option and chucks out all those clubs that currently use the Arena.

He goes for the only option. The audit is next month, there is no chance in hell he can build an arena anywhere in that time.

I would guess that this is his final throw of the dice given the late announcement. He will probably have been looking into getting a proper purpose built facility but got held up by inept councilmen over planning permission and whatever else.

He needs the permission of the Premier League to use a facility miles away from the main academy. Evicting local amateur sports teams from a council owned facility is not the best way to get that agreement. Hull City gave Allamhouse £7 million last season he could have bought YPI, put the facility on there with plans to bring the full academy together. Instead he asked Bishop Burton who said no. They didn't like the strings. In a blind panic he decided to chuck out amateur sports clubs because nobody stands in his way.
