Nowt to do with football, he's been arrested as a private individual not a football player. The matter could be dropped tomorrow or dragged on for a year.

Well the crown prosecution will have reviewed the evidence and judged that there isn't enough to charge him (common in the early stages of an investigation) and granted bail pending further enquiries. He'll have to report back for his bail date where he'll be rearrested then either questioned and presented with further evidence or they'll release without charge. Will be a while before he needs to answer bail because the prosecution need time to build a case. If the case breaks down before the bail date, they'll contact him to drop the charges.
I don't even know why the press brought it up mate - legally owned & **** all to do with why he was arrested.
An allegation of rape, from a minor, will invariably result in an arrest pending 'blah blah blah'. The police have little other option tbh. What is very unusual is that the name isn't usually announced to the media. If this is a set up I hope those involved receive the same lack of normal privacy.
It's all run of the mill really for anyone who gets nicked for any crime who haven't been deemed a danger to themselves or others. init
