That seems to be the case, but its still daft. Its Shelveys goal all day long in my book. They cannot say for certain he wouldn't have scored had it not deflected.

Yes they can, simple laws of physics apply even in the rarified atmosphere that is Jonjo Shelvey's head.

Good morning, Vetch!

I'm not sure I ever described myself as "a true visionary",perhaps you could reproduce the post where I made such an arrogant assertion.

That's my phrase (sarcastic), there was no intended suggestion that you ever said it.

You have seemingly morphed into a new Valley,by making things up as you go along, just to suit your cause/case.

I wasn't aware that I make things up. And everyone bends the facts on here to suit their cause - even you.

Shame on you for that,aswan,

If you're trying to lure me over to the dark side, it won't work :)

Sad that you,an intelligent poster, has chosen to follow the sheep.

Here's how I see it, maybe rightly or wrongly, you can tell us. You APPEAR to take some satisfaction in our gradual slide down the table and the perception of myself and others on this forum is that it's connected with the tediously ongoing Laudrup/Monk debate. My post was prompted by the fact that we moved back UP the table despite your doom-laden predictions and the fact that 9 people bothered to 'like' it suggests that I'm not alone on this subject. Now, 'likes' are normally gained depending on which side of the divide you sit on and they are of no consequence, but in this case they seem to come from a broad spectrum of the community.

It was inevitable that Swansea would move down the table from 2nd place after 3 games and I'm sure no sane person would have thought otherwise. Predicting that in a rational way is one thing, but my perception of your posts is that you wouldn't be overly upset if the team keep sliding down the table to demonstrate that Monk shouldn't be manager and Laudrup should still be with us. Please put me right if this is not the case.

At this moment in time, I would say the likelihood is that we will get to 50 points this season. Position-wise we are most likely to finish between 8th and 11th since a 10-point gap has opened up between ourselves and 12th place. And yes, Laudrup is still the only manager in Swansea's history to have won a major cup competition.

That is all <laugh>

I rarely tick 'like' not because I don't like but because I'm not a 'like box' ticking person.
Also there is no 'dislike' (maybe just as well!)

Not taking sides - just an observation and slow day at work.

Shelvey has scored 2 - Gomis 5 But that's by the by. Gomis has created space for others and that's part of his game too.
Shelvey got lucky v Southampton, Gomis v Man U. Honours even.
What more can I say about Shelvey other than has said by many many others - he can be brilliant in very short bursts but he loses concentration, goes missing for large parts of games, os often poorly positioned and gives possession away over and over again. Can we afford to play someone who contributes so little for so long? That's forgivable if we continue playing kick, rush and defend but it's not for me.
There many instances in our games v Man U & Barnsley where Shelvey was ambling ahead of Gomis and when we lost possession Gomis ran his heart out only for Shelvey to be walking back. Not good enough.
Gomis isn't great but he works hard for the team and tag allows others to be better, Shelvey doesn't and shows no hint of improving.
There are calls for Oliviera to play and I wouldn't be in any way upset if he played instead of Gomis but has he shown anything special? Monk doesn't appear to think so or he would have played him.
Gomis has looked better playing alongside Emnes or a second centre forward - can that work for us? It didn't early on in the pre-season and start of the season, but it may now.
Whatever happens, Monk won't drop Shelvey, especially after his love-in comments today. And he may be afraid to play anyone ahead of Gomis.

It's just as well we have hard working player and skilful players who make up the deficiencies.

Gomis has indeed scored 5 goals, 1 a great header against arsenal. 1 against Championship Rotherham, 2 against the giant that is league 2 Tranmere and a scorcher in the league against Man utd, when he was actually trying to get out the way. Fantastic return for 80 grand a week. I still believe we have actually the worst striker in the PL in Gomis and you can go on about his movement is this and he creates space here, He is there to score goals and at that he is hopeless. He works hard as you say in areas that he doesn't need to be and to blame all that on Shelvey is a pathetic statement to make.

Have a look at GM comments in the sun about Shelve and where as he accepts Shelvey didn't or wasn't doing it in the past he believes he is playing very well at the moment and is at total odds with what you have to say. The Sun yes The Sun actually gave him star man on the weekend. I know it is only one persons opinion but as you highlighted earlier some Yank had said Gomis played well.

It is good we have some hard working and skillfull players in midfield and at the back, who can score a few goals to make up for someone's deficiencies.

Sorry but quoting either Monk or the Sun has little merit as far as I'm concerned.
Shelvey and Gomis have both walked all over Monk and neither come close to players they have replaced or play instead of. As I have said - Shelvey's occasional involvement doesn't make up for the 70 - 80 minutes of a game when he's liability.
The Sun will have seen Match of the Day and heard Monk's comments.
Too many other outlets scored him a low 6/10 compared with an average of 7+. As with anything that relies on opinion we can find support for what we want. I tend to go on what I see and hear around me in games. Jonjo is not popular and Monk is not highly regarded by a lot of fans (others disagree).

A positive - Taylor is getting his act together and it looks like the success of Jack Cork may be helping the left back and Ash keep position.

Why not wait until the end of the season before gloating?

Shame on you for that,aswan,

Yesterday's League Cup Final brought back such great memories of the Laudrup days.
But I'm sure you don't remember them, since Monkees have short memories.
Glorious flowing football, admiration from all around the world, etc.
Now what do we have to endure/look forward to? Dross, with a handful of extra points thrown in to appease the Monk groupies..

Oh,and not a Cup on the horizon. <laugh>

Throwing your toys out again I see babes <doh>

Funny how we see things , now for me Taylor is a liability , diving in , constantly double marking a player alongside Williams. leaving his man to wander at leisure towards the box .

Yeah, what a ****ing nightmare it was winning our first ever major trophy....in our centenary year!...defeating Liverpool at Anfield and Chelsea (one of the most, if not THE most, expensively assembled and proficient teams in Europe) over 2 legs and qualifying for Europe in the process.

All those Jacks at Wembley. Twats. <laugh>

What a ****ing mug you are Dai box office <ok>

Im no mug son. you would rather beat a league two struggling club and win a nothing cup that most clubs cant be bothered with and get relegated than having yet another season riding high in the premiership......you would not have got that with laudcrap as manager that's for sure.....<ok>

You can if you want but had the ball not glance Gomis' head (and he knew very little about it) Shelvey's shot would have gone wide, even if it had taken a 'magic bullet' swerve of JFK proportions deGea had it covered. No deflection = no goal.

I could say it is my opinion Gomis had a goal taken off him earlier in the season - but that's called making stuff up.

So do you agree then that Rosicky did not score for Arsenal yesterday and that it was instead an own goal scored by the Everton defender? After all Howard had it covered all day long and had it not taken a huge deflection off the Everton player, the ball would not have ended up in the back of the net.

Also as for the comment about the "physics" of the shot in your other post, last I checked, there are such things as goalkeeper error, last minute swerve/dip. They cannot say with 100% certainty that it would not have gone in the back of the net. Goalkeepers get their hand to the ball all the time, yet not always a strong enough hand to keep it out. Can you say with 100% certainty that De Gea would have stopped the ball going in the back of the net. Fact of the matter is, that you cannot possibly say with 100% certainty that he would have saved it, and to claim 100% certainty is nothing but utter rubbish. Hell look at the FREAK goal we got against Burnley, did you see that one coming, I highly doubt you did.

I know you dislike Jonjo, but this is getting silly now.

Still harping on about a league 2 side, yet have failed to respond to any of the facts posted about your silly claims that no team was interested in the games they played against that same league 2 side.

I notice you have avoided that topic like the plague since. Not surprised in fairness, I guess you do after all know when your beaten and slither away to other topics to avoid looking like a fool.
