All that being said plastic, what could have Monk done differently? Gomis must have seen how well Bony was performing and knew as it was Monk's first job in management he couldn't afford to drop our star player and risk dropping points, it would have been seen the fans & media as pure madness.
Hell, he got a bunch of flak for benching Bony against QPR by which time Bony was nearly on the plane to Africa anyway.
I blame whoever told Gomis he would be "guaranteed" games - did we learn nothing from the Ki fiasco?!
Maybe Monk could have handled Gomis better on a personal level, but we don't know what was happening behind the scenes, perhaps he did his best to placate him in a difficult situation?
This is a matter of poor timing for Gomis, if we'd signed him now all would have been well, but for me, if he can't see that Bony deserved to play ahead of him and we as a team were unable to adjust so radically to play 4-4-2 during the last 4 months and has subsequently thrown his toys out, he can go.
It has only been 4 months after all.
