'However, French website Footmercarto say they have spoken to people in the striker’s (Gomis) entourage and they say he is still intent on leaving, due to his belief that Swansea boss Garry Monk broke a promise when he signed, assuring him he would get an equal chance to compete with Bony from the start of the season.
However, Bafetimbi Gomis has only had five Premier League starts so far and that includes Saturday’s draw with West Ham, where Bony wasn’t involved.
As well as Newcastle, Footmercato say that Borussia Dortmund, Schalke, Arsenal and our old friend Alan Pardew at Palace, have also made enquiries about the forward.
Gomis wants to go somewhere where he will be number one, though his representatives say that they expect a final decision on whether he will leave in the next few days, something that could well depend of whether Swansea can bring somebody else in.'

like the boss says "he is not responsible for paper talk or rumours". Gomis is going nowhere and that's what will happen. <ok>

Curious ... so we can tolerate the risk of a non-goal scorer reportedly having a tantrum .... but we can't tolerate the risk of a proven goal scorer having a tantrum, when he is reportedly and in the street to fans a very happy camper - even singing his own song.

If this is all true Gomis comes across as a petulant spoilt child whose ego needs a good rubbing.

I hardly think Monk broke promises. He may have said something like "It's my intention to play you with Bony" or something like that, but not a promise by any means. Maybe Bafé thinks that's a promise? I can just picture Bafé and his agent with Monk with one hand over his heart and the other on the Bible making him swear that he'll play him.

The fact is that once the season started, Bony became our goal scorer and Gylfi provided all the assists. They both became impossible to drop. That happened and will continue to happen in football. If Bafé can't handle that, then he's in the wrong business.

This is the Premier League at the end of the day. We're not going to jeopardise our league position for the sake of a 'promise'. He doesn't have to like it and it's good he didn't, but he should now be relishing his chance at having the No.9 position to himself. If he doesn't relish that prospect, ship him out.

Bony was on a new long term contract but I read somewhere that he was paid a million pounds to drop the buy out clause. Reading between the lines there must have been a "gentleman's" agreement to arrange a transfer if the right club came in for him. This does not apply to Gomis as he is on a long term contract possibly without a buy out clause as there seems to be some confusion as to whether one exists. No manager can make the promise of the type that Gomis said was made by Monk because no one knows how a player is going to perform. The best a manager can say is that he will be considered for a start.

Can someone confirm that Ki had a clause in his contract guaranteeing 20 starts a season. Was that the cause of friction between him and Laudrup?

If this deal happens, then what a bunch of useless pricks we have in charge of our club.
25 millionfor Bony, X million of Gomis and not strikers.
    Stupid

I know lets commit suicide and sell gomis to the highest bidder and there are many clubs fighting for his services. some fans think he should go saying he is crap as if they know better than all these clubs that are willing to pay millions for him....I think its time for some on here to see a doctor to get some reality pills as they dont know what they are talking about..<laugh>

"The contract made by both Ki and Swansea includes a clause that the player will be guaranteed to play the least 20 games as a starter which Ki himself wanted and included.
The Chelsea game was his 20th game playing as a starter, and this is the game he resulted in heavy injury on his thigh. Ki told Laudrup that he would like to treat his injury in the Korean National Medical Centre as he precisely judged the facilities there are much better than those at the club.
However, Laudrup mistakenly believed that Ki was trying to make a lame excuse after his 20th game of him being starter so as to slack off as much as he can. That inconsiderate thought of Laudrup led him to him disliking Ki.
Laudrup later approved Ki of his suggestion and let him go get treated in Korea, and Ki believed Laudrup fully understood what he told him and took it to his heart with gratitude.
When Ki came back, Laudrup brought in new players at his position and started ignoring him and excluding him from game to game. and this continued for a while.
Ki realised something was wrong, and he asked Laudrup why he can't play as a regular starter. Laudrup said to Ki that he isn't trustworthy as a professional footballer and avoided Ki in any direct conversations."

Was how his father related the incident - so even if Ki had been injured (it coincided with family celebrations) Ki's objection was Laudrup had brought in players who could play in Ki's position. So he's off out of the country against his manager's wishes with a dead leg and objects to the club covering his absence. I'm not surprised Laudrup didn't trust him when you are told you can't have time to visit your family but get a 'serious' injury just when you wanted time off.

Not for the first time in his career Ki had upset people, either.

Some are saying they don't think Monk would have made promises, but given his record on speaking before thinking I'm not convinced.

Nothing posted there that isn't reported in multiple sources. If you think Ki's father is a liar that's your prerogative, we know your twisted views on Laudrup and I couldn't a toss what you you think or what you think of me.
Buut I can see it gives you great joy to make silly comments about people on this board.
