Arsenal have held talks with Bafetimbi Gomis’ agent over a £6million move for the Swansea City striker.

Gomis is one of the most sought after players in the Premier League this month, with Swansea considering letting him go for the right price.

Newcastle and Crystal Palace are keen, along with Borussia Dortmund, but Gomis’ agent has confirmed Arsenal have now approached him to discuss a deal.

‘Schalke and Borussia Dortmund have asked about signing Bafe,’ said Francesco Di Frisco.

‘So have Crystal Palace and Newcastle and now Arsenal.’

The comments come amid talk that the Gunners are set to make a £6million bid for the powerful attacker, with Arsene Wenger keen to bag the 29-year-old.

Gomis has scored four goals in 20 matches for the Swans this season.

I only just noticed this and call me old fashioned but don't the club have a say in his transfer, how is it that Arsenal are in talks with his agent over a 6m move. I think the swans may have a bit of a say in this.

Oh no, he is worth 9m to us, but Arsenal think he is worth 6m, they will then offer 6m +2m if they win the premier league ;)

Agents touting their players again to generate some cash. Gomis is quoted as saying a big club are in for him.Surely it's against the rules to approach another club's player without prior permission. Is there a contract release clause?

As said above, I think Gomis was expecting to be number 1 but we couldn't sell Wilf in the Summer. Having not settled in to the side or with fans, Gomis could well be looking simply to get out. I doubt it has helped that there has been so much talk about Cisse. If he stays he plays, if he goes to Palace he plays, at Newcastle he will have to battle. Arsenal might be a bigger club with bigger pay and European football but they also have a bigger bench. IMO Gomis may well be looking at retirement plan.
If we can get a replacement we should sell as he's been talking about bigger clubs from the off. How much is he worth? It appears we leave the value of the player to other clubs so maybe Arsenal could get him cheap.

I wonder if we'll have a team left by the end of the month. All of a sudden it seems like too many are leaving. Hope we're getting some good replacements.

Yikes... This isn't good news. A swap deal with Newcastle for Cisse would be my preferred move if he really wants to leave. It's decent enough value for money and doesn't leave us up s**t creek without a paddle. Thank goodness we brought in Oliveira or we'd really be in panic stations regarding strikers right now! I mean, it's still an urgent matter, but at least there is someone to come in should Bafé leave without someone immediately coming in.

It makes sense now why Taylor, Williams and Monk have been waxing lyrical about Bafé in every interview that they do for the past month. So much that I've actually found it cringeworthy. They're trying to make him seem valued here when, in reality, he clearly feels the opposite.

They might have permission from Huw. We don't know what goes on behind the scenes.

We have suddenly become deluded and deranged if we think we can let Bony go and then Gomis go and continue to score goals. Unless Oli is the second coming of Christ, we're on a hiding to nothing. And by "we", I don't mean the fans I mean the Club .... and perhaps a few fans persistently drunk on the cool-aid.

The people now in charge are making the same mistake that happened with Scotland. Do they have a secret plan to bring back Sousa - poor Monk.

<laugh> I'ts a better laugh on here than any comedy club in the country. Some of the comments are plucked out of thin air and make for a entertaining read..<laugh> Our gomis is going nowhere as he dont have a say being on a long contract and as the manager have stated he wont be going anywhere and is happy with his roll as No1 striker he is looking forward to the task ahead....Like monk says he cant help the gossip and rumours but if they want the facts come and ask him..<laugh>

    He certainly was.

Dai clearly has more faith in what Monk says, than I do.
