    Key differences for me posting on iPhone;

    1. Previous incarnation took me to the latest post on opening thread, this one doesn't.

    2. Can only see a tiny segment of DT's banner now, which is a shame.

    3. On viewing Premier League forum previously the thread, latest poster and time of post could be seen, not anymore.

4.Seems very slow as others have remarked.

    5. We still only have 17 points which is a real bummer. Fix it Mick!

:emoticon-0132-envy::emoticon-0132-envy:OK as a new member i ont like it at all.

I like change and happily embrace it but i can see absolutely ZERO progress or improvements n this site. the page is bland and just appeared "functional" rather than inviting

It very much like QPRREPORT and that is the exact reason i dont use that either.
Im hoping over time that it wil grow on me and hoping that enough wil sa=tay here to at least keep the conversation intresting.

For me, its a horrible design but i suppose that matches the new OFFIISH site.

    Just my opinion

FFS- I wish it wasnt so f-ing slow too....Giving up now !

I just had to have a shave between opening one page to another but me no complain.
I'm hoping when I make a new thread, I'll be retired so I'll have time to wait for a reply.

My only comment is.....Boy is it slow.....Is that what they mean by improvement...gives us more time to think before we slag each other off.

    Good idea!

The site is painfully slow on my laptop but seems okay on my mobile. Some pages aren't even loading on my laptop now and when they do eventually load they're blank.

me too, but it does have a few improvements over the app - you can now see videos and pictures that are embedded in each post.

Used to like the app where you didn't have to keep choosing "next page" and could just keep scrolling down through all the posts - would like to see that implemented here, especially as it just takes you to the newest post anyway

Did you read the first OP mate? The platform for the old version is no longer fit for purpose, the site owners had little choice.

Functionality looks about the same to me. I think the speed is to do with the servers, not the site. And they seem to be making changes as we write, some layout different today than yesterday, I think it'll settle down soon.

I like the edit tool and the fact that you can delete entire posts (your own) yourself. For example if, out of impatience, you duplicate posts by hitting 'post reply' continuously when it is slow to upload. Hint.

I know its easy slag off summat new and I'm mindful of Stan's message that some folk just can't stand change but sometimes the change is simply not an improvement on what went before. I might fall into Stan's category when it comes to techie stuff if I'm honest. I hate it when they "upgrade" Yahoo mail. Why can't they just leave it alone?!!

Maybe we'll all get used to this format but honestly, I don't like it. Its very slow, you can't seem to reply with quote, the text with quotes isn't really distinct from the text you're writing (or people's sigs for that matter) and its very hard to edit other people's posts (just part quote their reply, not actually change their words). The one we had was perfect. Apparently we had to change from what it was but I wonder is that just politicians speak to dupe the masses into accepting it.

    Pity

Yes understand all that but why the wholesale change to the layout? Surely it could have been designed to look like the previous format albeit all new with shiny extra bits.

Its like a football team buying a complete new side and wondering why its not working v well when actually all that was needed was some minor tweaks......hmmmm.

You can remove duplicates by clicking on the tools button on your post. It should be an option there.

It's something I've become more acutely aware of in the last 6 months.

It seems to derive from the idea that if you stand still then you get left behind.

Software developers want to optimise their product on the latest machines and expand market share and pure sales (as opposed to licence and support fees). They need and encourage people to upgrade and do this by stopping the support of the old versions. This means that the old versions won't be compatible with new versions of Windows, iOS and many other programs so that an upgrade is enforced.

The only way to prevent change in technology is for the vast majority to reject the new and shiny gadgets so that new versions of existing software are not required. That won't keep everyone up with the Joneses and won't happen while people queue up outside Apple and Sony stores waiting to be the first owners of the "improved" product.

Re. Google Chrome / Slow Performance

Both versions are probably being run simultaneously while the migration to the new platform takes place. This will mean that the old version (now invisible to us) will be using server capacity.

I'd guess (hope) that once this gets finished (probably the reason for the 5 day disruption message) then it'll get better.

I note that there are a number of Google Chrome users experiencing problems. I have done a few bits before that have solved slow performance and can hunt them out but am loathe to do so before the 5 days has elapsed because it'll take me a while to locate and might not be necessary (plus I'm not an expert so won't make suggestions unless there's no alternative or hope of natural resolution).

Speed is what most ppl want first, and utmost.

Therefore any change that is slower, is on the back foot, and from a technology perspective, has to be inferior, and a backward step.

Very happy with the new site. Never used the mobile apps before as I thought they were ****. Always used the browser on my phone and it is much better now. On the computer it looks ok and I don't see it as a step backwards. Some things is a bit slow while other things goes faster.

With the old site, under Preferences, I had it set to read the posts on each thread from newest to oldest. Right now on the new site I do not see an equivalent setting, which worked well on the match day threads. I do note that using the white upward arrow on red background how you can move to the first post for each page of a thread.
