You have said champions league AND the money.
There is no guarantee both will get champions league.
And I'm not sure he has ever properly been linked with Man United. They want Strootman (and is't the rumoured fee similar to what we want for Morgan. Given the choice Van Gaal will take his compatriot)
If Arsenal fail to qualify the only reasonable explanation (in addition to wages) will be that he realistically is one of two players they need to get back the being an obvious front runner for CL qualification (the other being another central defender). In a cruel world Arsenal could fail to qualify for the CL (and we make it) but they take Toby and Morgan in the summer and then stroll to the top 4 next season ...
The fact he didn't move on at all this summer while we held on to morgan was a bit of a give away. He's very small though. I'd be worried about losing aerial battles in midfield.
Which is why I would hope he is to be signed to play the Davis role rather than Morgan's (but will admit to not knowing to much about his usual style of play)
But for what is is worth he is only half an inch shorter than Claude Makelele...the modern day king of the defensive midfield role
I am really interested in our developments in central midfield over the coming transfer windows with 3 of our current central midfielders linked with moves away and we haven't been linked with 3 in (Clasie is an old one from the summer)
That seemed ridiculous at the time. Might not be so crazy anymore if our form keeps up
Mascerano isn't that tall either and he sometimes even plays emergency centre back for Barca.

Apologies if posted before but a chart revealing value for money in the EPL. According to this we have the eighth most valuable squad, so are over performing being in 2nd. Pretty meaningless I suspect.

I assume we are only looking to sign one winger (especially given the young ones from the academy) and there are just multiple options.
I suppose more than one could be lined up due to :
- Jay's injury / potential departure
- 18 months of poch meaning we didn't really have any in the squad
Would be interesting if we wanted both of the recent links (kampl and corona). Not least that they are ex teammates of recent signings.
On paper bringing them in for a combined 7.5 m and accepting that Jay will leave could be more good business. Use profit on back up striker (guidetti has been rumoured at 3-5m or free in the summer) . That or if we then have those 2 wide players to go with tadic, mane and long, Shane can shift more to being striker back up.
It does seem like we need more than tadic, mane and long in those wide roles (just look at bench the other day) .

I demand a re-count on our squad value using the Scouse £, which as we know doubles the value of any Southampton player.
They obviously didn't allow for the 'value added' bit...you know, where 4 apples are packed and labelled Waitrose. Our players are worth more because of Property of SFC stamped on their bum.
