it's rugby and its a mans game is no excuse. Ive played both codes and have never witnessed anything like it. Fair enough the first punch......it happens, but that second one is unforgiveable. Ban for whole season, community service teaching young rugby players why that extent of his violence is unacceptable and a massive fine too.

The slimming pills thing was slightly different, they were genuine over the counter fat burners, however they contained a stimulant that is banned from the sport, the cover up was a bit embarrassing though.

It does happen in football, Paddy Kenny did practically the same thing when he was taking cough syrup containing ephedrine before games.

I've probably made it sound a lot worse than it actually is, it is still rare and only a very small minority, certainly not as bad as cycling or athletics.

Football can be just as dishonest, remember when Stoke and the F.A allegedly faked the Liam Lawrence dog story to cover up his ban for cocaine use?

I don't think any sport can claim a moral high ground really, these sort of things happen in all sports, as long as there's an advantage to be had people will cheat.

Greater Manchester Police have just announced that they are investigating the incident, though I don't think it's likely they'll take any action.

The RFL will announce their punishment tomorrow.

Football, cycling and athletics have and are taking positive steps to find and remove cheats. RL has stood out for quite some time as a group that are at best 'suspicious' and worthy of further investigation.

I agree, although RL has significantly fewer resources to put into testing programs and far less pressure to do so due to the smaller public and commercial appeal.

Rugby Union on the other hand has significantly more money and commercial appeal but is also massively under-tested.

The more you try to profess your expertise, the more confused you appear to be.

It's typically young kids that take steroids? Bollocks.

Ben Flower shows no signs of steroid use?

"I'm not denying that some RL players take steroids, I know for a fact some do, but Ben Flower didn't need to so in all probabilities hasn't".

Yer all over the shop, mate.

What can't you grasp? Experienced pro's (i.e Ben Flower) rarely take steroids, they don't need to, its easy to be that size through diet, nutrition and rest, they have no reason to risk a ban. Some do sure, but its not as common as people think.

When I refer to young kids, I mean those on the verge of the professional career, so 18/19/20 year olds, perhaps the term young kids was a little misleading in that sense. Many of these lads don't have pro contracts and are at the point in their careers where they either get one or their on the scrap heap, its a lot of pressure and some make the wrong choices.

It makes absolutely no ends to me what you decide to believe, you seem like your just looking to disagree for the sake of it, when in fact I'm actually confirming (through experience) what you eluded to earlier.

They've basically said its up to Saints and Lance to press charges otherwise it will be dropped, as Lance has already said he doesn't hold any grudges and considers the matter dealt with (or something along those lines) I can't see it going any further.

It was a comment that this happened in a game of Rugby league. Generalising about Rugby (Union) and Rugby League as though it is one sport is like generalising about (Association) Footballers and Gaelic Footballers just because they share part of the name and are similar in the way they are played.

i find it embarrassing for this forum there is so called rugby league fans on here...

it's pathetic.. it's what holds hull back IMHO reading and wigan were never gonna do much good.. and we will follow them.. you can't be even half big team sharing your stadium with a rugby team never mind a rugby f**ing league team and that's a fact

go anywhere else in the uk nevermind the world.. ain't f**ing heard of it.. you can't be a true city fan if you support any rugby league team and that's my honest opinion, it's truly too f**ing pathetic and embarrassing

then again this city will never get big crowds... 40k would never be reachable.. sunderland have a smaller population than hull and have newcastle close, yet get over 40k average in league games.. we just don't have a big fan base.. unless you could another 20k of plastics coming along.. and for me that's not a fan base

we will be back in the lower leagues soon.. and we will see how many stick around..

testament to the fact in our promotion season many a times we had around 15k... this city can't be a big team ever

i'm not trying to be a c**t.. but i believe all you lot on here know it too...

ps. i hope the two rugby league teams here go into liquidation and all their fans drown in the humber <ok>

i mean ffs go anywhere in the world nevermind the uk.. say you support hull city.. they've heard of us.. yet we cant get a decent crowd for prem games ffs.. we are just a wigan v2.

just thank f** we have relegation clauses in the players contracts.. then again when players get 5-10k bonus for starting a match or coming on before the 70th minute..

and i i've been to one prem game this season. the west ham one.. i f**ing wish i had a refund on my pass. never been so out of touch or love with this club ever..

sold my pass for £30 for the man city game and a pack of 8 beers for the palace game.. i ain't going to southampton game either.. im f**ing done

next football match for me is Scotland v england..

    some passsssion man

all of you lot can't have a go at me since you all take the piss out of england! i just win all the time lads..

What a load of nonsense, plenty of people all over the country are fans of more than one sport.
