I think he knows his reputation is shot and he will get the sack by Dec at the latest so he's just in reputation damage control. He's had an awful run and i don't really rate him but feel sorry for what he is about to receive from the fans at St James Park between now and his last day.

QPR looked beaten after WHU first goal yesterday. Arry has his work cut out to keep them up. No spirit.

Pardew is right in part...the fans have decided they want him and Ashley out. I find the latter strange as Ashley rescued them from a bad financial position. The team won't play better in a bad atmosphere, but the fans struggle to get positive when the team keep losing...catch 22. Newcastle fans have always stuck with their team...bad times. A friend of mine has given away her season ticket at St James...being a disabled ticket, she didn't just feel she could hog it if she had no intention of going. I was amazed at the level of hatred directed at Pards and Ashley when I visited Newcastle recently. They are in real danger of going down.

As for QPR...they showed signs of life at SMS. They could have got something if they put good chances away (are you listening, Mane?). Have never rated Redknapp, but he got them back up and, even allowing for having PL players in the Championship, that ain't easy.

Both teams must rely on finding 3 teams worse than they are.

I'm sure Pardew would love to go, in fact I'm guessing he's desperate for the exit. But he won't walk out with nothing, and ashley probably can't afford to sack him, so it's a bit of a Mexican stand off. Mind you, iof they can follow the point at Swansea with a win at home to Leicester, perhaps they can turn things around.

Rangers next four include Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City. They could be well adrift by Christmas.

The problem they have now though, is that there's a bit of a gap developing at the bottom. If Everton beat Villa, Newcastle would still be 18th even with a win against Leicester. Ashley would be under so much pressure to do something that surely even his mate Pardew couldn't survive much longer. The feeling amongst the fans is that Ashley wants to sell the club and buy Rangers as soon as they are in the SPL, but if Newcastle aren't in the Prem he wouldn't get a good enough price.

Yes I think that is right. Maybe Ashley feels like Pardew is a safety barrier between him and the fans, because he is the real bad guy there.

Always thought it was an odd decsion to award such a long contract. He was never going to be an Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger. Take those two out and normally a couple of years is the most you can hope for.

Indeed. Fans can criticise Pardew as much as they like, but give him a decent set of players and he will do reasonably well with them. He may not take them to the absolute heights, but he'll do a pretty good job. Ashley has seen that if he buys in players at a low price and gets the club to bring them through, he can ask significantly more on their way out. Trouble is, where does that leave Newcastle's position as a football club in the league..?

One of the major things about being an Arsene Wenger or an Alex Ferguson is that you don't have the worry that your key/best players will be sold out from under you. You also have the major say in who comes and who goes, on the playing/coaching side. You can't create a personal dynasty if someone else is in control. Pardew is very much the scapegoat here. He may not be god's gift to coaching, but he's no fool. The long contract was to lock him in place and for him to accept the constraints placed on him. A few seasons back it looked like a fantastic decision as he had been manager of the year.

I may be completely wrong but i'm sure i read somewhere that Pardew's actual weekly wage was not very much hence the long contract, i thought that Ashley had actually paid off his large gambling debt's as the bulk of his wage. Anyone else heard this or was it a weird dream after mixing my drinks.

Burnley & QPR are going to be well adrift by December and I can't see either of them turning around their fortunes. The league will be an anti-climax this season as Chelsea look like running away with things. The excitement will be who will grab the other two European places after man City (I think man Utd and Arsenal will clinch them albeit neither will seriously threaten the top two) and the first relegation place. Any takers for Everton?

As for Saints, I feel that we are capable of doing better than last season but I would like us to snap up a trophy in one of the cup competitions more, I think.

I was suprised how bad QPR looked at West Ham, as they had looked an ok side against us, and could have nicked a point late on. Dont look good for them, but when Redknapp is signing players like Ferdinand then they are always likely to struggle. Burnley dont look good enough, and will probably do well to get 25 points this season.
Pre season i thought WBA and Swansea were likely relegation candidates, but so far both have looked pretty reasonable. If Berahino and Bony get a long term injury, then they could be in trouble though. Newcastle have been awful so far, but if Cisse can stay fit, and keep scoring, i think they could be ok, though i do think they need to get another striker in January.
Absolutely no chance of Everton going down, they have had a tough run of games, and a few injuries, and will still be top 8 by the end of the season.
Palace and Hull are the 2 sides that have disappointed me so far, Palace losing Pulis didnt help, and they could get sucked into the bottom 3. Still think Hull will be ok, but dont think they will be mid table like i thought pre season.

QPR are a poor man's cheque-book football team, the Man City of The Championship. News worthy because of Redknapp for some reason; they're sink back to the chill winds of the Champ' by the seasons end, where the tentacles of the FFP loom, waiting to pull them deeper.
