    Davies has Tweeted.

Disappointed to lose Longy especially so close to the season. 5mill profit in 7months hard to refuse I guess. We'll see who comes in #HCAFC

Shane Longs Premier League record...28 goals in 146 games. Just over 7 goals a season.

Come to think of it, why didn't he just sign for Reading.

Assuming that would shut her up.

Do you lot have any respect for your own partners then, or do you just treat them like ****?

If his wife wasn't happy, I say respect to the lad for fixing that.

But then I'm not a closet misogynist.

It was said she wasn't happy to move here in the first place. So, what's the answer to that one?

So you're an out of the closet misogynist? Lighten up...tis only some friendly banter.

I'm happy for them both...If you don't like where you live, move! The south coast is nice

I don't know, but if she still wasn't happy then I don't think the lad can be blamed for putting her first. She's his wife and mother to his kids.

I don't see the need for all this "pussy whipped" "she wears the trousers" nonsense that some are coming out with.

Normally I would completely agree with you. But the obscene amounts of money these footballers earn, Shane long in particular, is more than enough compensation for living somewhere undesirable for a couple of years.

It's less than 50 miles commute to training, and downhill, he needs a bit of space. He'll never shut her up, she's a wife !

Steve Bruce is OK with the sale and it wasn't against his wishes. Admits it was just too good a deal to turn down, He intends to use the proceeds to strengthen his squad.

Player is happy, his WAG his happy, Brucie is happy, Happy is happy and so is Pharrell Williams.

I'm OK with all of this.

The more I think about it the less I'm keen on Welbeck.

On one hand I'm convinced he would do as well if not better than Long and also he has the "big name" signing attached to him.

But on the other I just have a feeling he wouldn't be incredibly prolific for us. Any other £10+ million striker would be a gamble anyways but I don't know, I just don't feel he's what we need. I never saw him as a finisher and we need a speedy finisher at the moment. We have Sagbo who is great at holding up and strong. Jelavic who is slow and a bit of a shoot and pray donkey and we have Aluko and Ince both speedy and skillful but lack finishing imo.

Paper rumours. Elmo has been linked with Besiktas, West Ham, Sunderland and now Southampton. No issues with Elmo or Quinn leaving. Long going and Sagbo suspended for saturday should at least see Quinn on the subs bench @ Dqpr.

Yes he does and not just one. After sunday in Stuttgart i would not have started with Long anyway. Jelavic and Ince were superb and should be the top 2 on saturday.

From newspapers. That is all it has been.

Without a doubt. Saints have had the heart and soul ripped out this summer. Just ask Mick Channon a Saints legend.

Without a doubt. I also think a season long loan is more than likely. Patrick Bamford(striker) from Chelsea is another who we could get on loan and would add to what we have now.

With Prozzy and now Long going in the past week, that will leave us with £70k+ a week for wages.

His wife. She is from Reading and they still have a house. It onlyb takes an hour-ish from Reading to Southampton.
    An easy commute.

    and she has done. Lol.
