You know, it's been skimmed over a bit, bit Gomez is a smashing option signing as well, always been a lad with a bit about him.

He might play a lot of games too.

Mavrias too, I know I sound like his ****ing agent, but from the first I seen of him, I've thought he's got a bit of magic, and he looks almost there too.

Lots of positives at the minute.

Slightly off topic but asked my pal, a Celtic season ticket holder about Dick Turpin, or whatever he's called..

'he is only 21 or 22 so he has still get some bits to learn , but trust me , if you get him, you will love watching him, he's like a thoroughbred'

'van dijk is quality, superb on the ball, too good for up here, so sometimes gets lazy, reminds me of Rio Ferdinand, very comfortable with the ball at his feet, he 's a threat at set pieces as well'

Do it Conger!

I've just got some blinding insider information on this one amigos...

There is to be a secondary medical tomorrow morning, as there was something (unreleased) that the club wasn't happy about, NOT a deal breaker, but this isn't done until the club is satisfied, expect it to be late in the day tomorrow if it happens.

Apparently Rodwell was on a surprisingly low salary at City, but IS taking a pay cut to play and the contract is around 40k per week, impressive from the lad.

Finally, the fee....

£6.8 million rising to just under £11 million based on a string of triggers, of course appearances and possibly there is a sell on clause.

From the guy who gave me the Bent, Fletcher, Wes & Mignolet exit stories.

<ok>

All promising if the medical issues are sorted out. I'd suggest he's worth that kind of money if he plays like he can. The fee is a dream, 7m is a snip for young English talent, and if we end up paying 11m he'll have been worth it.

Get him in and move on to the next.

All seems pretty realistic, paying £10 million up top would be a gamble, one that could easily come off but a gamble nonetheless.

11 days from kick off we are getting there, hopefully, but this second medical isn't to be taken lightly I wouldn't have thought, this isn't done by any stretch.

George Caulkin from the Times said there could be a second medical, also said the one tonight was extensive.

He's definitely had his injury problems, so think we are doing the right thing by making sure.

Personally I'm pretty confident he'll sign

I think this is the club's way of making a statement ........ "He's had 2 thorough medicals, now shut the **** up about his ****ing hamstrings."

I'm already sick to death of hearing about his injury problems, as far as I know there's nothing current.

Sunderland to unveil Manchester City star
Published: 05 August 2014

Jack Rodwell
1 comment
JACK RODWELL is expected to be unveiled by Sunderland today after putting the finishing touches to his move to the Stadium of Light.

England international Rodwell was at the Academy of Light yesterday afternoon to undergo a medical and pen a five-year deal with Sunderland and will now become the most expensive central midfielder in the club’s history.

Sunderland agreed a fee - potentially rising to £10million - with Manchester City last week for Rodwell after his agent, who also represents ex-Black Cats midfielder Craig Gardner, held talks with the scores of club interested in the 23-year-old.

More than half of the Premier League, plus Serie A side Napoli, were vying to end Rodwell’s miserable two-year spell at the Etihad, yet Sunderland have emerged victorious in the race for the former Everton man’s signature.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet, who is still hopeful of landing Liverpool forward Fabio Borini, had confirmed after Saturday’s final pre-season friendly in Portugal that he was confident of several imminent breakthroughs in the transfer market.

And Rodwell will represent the first of those signings, to address Poyet’s eagerness to add a box-to-box midfielder to his options in the middle of the park after losing Gardner, Jack Colback and Ki Sung-Yueng at the end of last season.

“We are looking for a box-to-box midfielder who can give us some goals,” said Poyet last week.

“That’s not an easy one. Midfielders who are scoring goals are quite expensive.”

Rodwell started just seven Premier League games for Man City after enduring an injury-hit spell at the Etihad, following his £12m move from Everton.

The arrival of Frank Lampard at the Etihad on a short-term deal has pushed Rodwell further down the pecking order and City were keen to offload him permanently.

But Sunderland, who are also looking to a complete another loan deal for defender Santiago Vergini, will hope to unlock the huge potential which Rodwell showed after coming through the ranks at Everton.

With Rodwell’s capture imminent, Sunderland are unlikely to make a late move to hijack Cardiff City midfielder Jordon Mutch’s move to QPR.

Sunderland saw a £3.5m bid for Mutch rejected earlier in the summer, with Cardiff looking for a fee in excess of £5m.

And Mutch yesterday underwent a medical at newly-promoted QPR after the Bluebirds accepted a bid of around £6m.

Rodwell’s signing is also expected to hasten Alfred N’Diaye’s departure from the Stadium of Light.

Real Betis are desperate to re-sign N’Diaye, who spent the second half of last season on loan with the Spanish club, and re-entered into talks with Sunderland last week.
