I would agree with that, but as has been said, someone has decided that they'd rather have his wages paid by someone else, so seems almost guaranteed he's off. As others have said, it's a lose-lose situation for us, as given him being fit and getting the right service, he could have become a legend in the same way as Iwan - now we'll never know.
I was impressed with Grabban and Lafferty last night, so he may not have started many games had he stayed - who knows???
I agree he values pace in his squad, which we saw was sorely lacking last season. I would like a bit more creativity but as it stands we clearly have a far better attacking style and that's taken a huge amount of pressure of the defenders which lead to so many errors last season. The stuff about the board is mostly your conjecture so I can't really dispute it, but to use a player choosing the chance to get a lot of game time over sitting on our bench as a stick to beat our board with is a bit ridiculous! It's like you completely ignored the fact we bought B'mouth's top striker who performed well in this league! Wilson knew he'd get game time with the Cherries and chose that over the higher wages I imagine we could offer. Personally I think that says more about his character than our boards failings.
I think any accusation levelled at the board of being "cheap" or "penny pinching", is a little harsh and doesn't really stack up with the facts, other than we allegedly missed out on Mackay and got a cheaper option in Adams (we don't know the true reasons there though). It's important to bear in mind that we've lost half our income by getting relegated. It's not an option, without a wealthy benefactor. We don't want to do a Portsmouth. I'd rather our club was managed prudently, than they overreach themselves pushing for promotion. That being said, the debacle in Italy was very amateurish. The Royle switch sounds more unlucky than anything else, though it' snot very impressive. Don't care about the striker going to bournemouth. That was the correct career decision for him, and I'd rather see players choose game time over wages, as a rule, even if Norwich City miss out on the odd up-and-coming player every now and again. I bet we've missed out on many targets over the last few years, it's just they tend not to be made public.
Like this latest link - modou fella over in Sweden - watch some highlight vids - very fast and built like a tank, 21 years old - seems to be at home on the right. This one has me very excited.
Going for the cheap options and lacking ambition, the way I see it we've got one shot at getting promoted another season in the Championship and a lot of our players will jump ship, we'll effectively become a generic Championship club, the board need to throw every current resource we've got at getting back in the Premiership and if we fail at that they need to have a plan B to stop whatever rot sets in.
Anyone heard of / follow @transferleaker? I've never heard of him/them/it before but saw this little gem earlier. Edit: After the Hoolahoop shenanigans last January, this doesn't seem quite watertight?
Pinkun reporting that Gary O'Neil is training with our squad. Not sure if that's been mentioned on here before or not.
As our squad stands at the moment then yes rubbish, but if in the next week we sell Leroy, Redmond, Tettey Hooper and RVW then we are going to be settling in for a long spell in the lower leagues.
I`m fully expecting at least 3 of those players to be sold and they are not on wages that will bankrupt our club, the trouble with burying your head in the sand is your arse gets completely exposed.
Something I can agree with SN23 for a change. If we can keep Leroy, Redmond, Tettey Hooper then I will feel more optimistic about the new season, but if they go I can see us being a mid table team and will lose the better players we've still got. But once a premier league team comes calling I can understand that player wanting to go no matter how disappointing it is. We may not need the money, but it's no good keeping a player if they wish to play in the top league.
