Looks like Joe Royle has left already.

Just adds to my overwhelming sense of gloom for the coming season.

    Oh dear,

I have a sense of foreboding for this coming season. I can't put my finger on exactly why though.

One reason is the we still don't have a creative midfielder on the books and don't look like getting one in and another is Neil, he worries about his ability to manage the first team.

    I am concerned.

After managing the biggest and best club in East Anglia joining Norwich was always going to be a step down for him! <whistle>

Football is a dog eat dog world these days, and this demonstrates it quite clearly. All the warm words disappear when a more lucrative contract comes along. We can't be overly 'moralising' about this, as we did the same thing in offering Lewis Grabban a more lucrative contract that Bournemouth couldn't match. At the end of the day it'll be down to the players we have and how they perform. I'm still looking forward to the new season as a challenge, but also am realistic about how hard gaining promotion will be, as there are 23 other teams who are hoping for the same thing. My support for City is unequivocal, however. Whatever happens, they're still my team. OTBC!

As he was supposed to just be an Advisor to Adams I don't see this as that shocking. Everton came in and said we'd like to give you a bigger role at Everton. Adams still has the rest of the actually coaching and back room team with him.

I'm with you Kempy. Hoping to be proved wrong but have a big hangover of disappointment from relegation , which could have been most likely avoided with better decision making ( and that includes keeping Hughton until the end of the season).

Not convinced by Adams or his back room staff, no real confidence in the Board, not overly impressed with signings ( although they will get supported wearing the shirt)...etc.

If they prove me wrong then will happily eat my words but feeling an Ipswich coming on ( long term mediocrity).

It's all a bit strange though how ever you veiw it. I'm really surprised city just let him walse off ! He must hAve had a contract? I thought he'd have been a real help to Adams in his first season, really disappointed about this news & in Royle.

I think we all agree with this but do feel so very let down with how things have manifested over the last couple of years. Of course there are no guarantees in football but after 3 years you were hoping you could keep up with the Stokes and Southamptons

Well said RER - Totally agree. At the end of the day, it's really about the players and their performances.

It will be interesting to see how many of the 'transfer rumours' have any substance - though I wouldn't be too surprised to see Fer leave for a figure in excess of £10M!! <ok>

And if he does, we will have to find somebody else, just as we did when Snodgrass left, and Bournemouth did when Grabban left. It's the nature of the game these days.

I really don`t care about Joe Royal and panicking because he decided to go back to Everton is pathetic, if anyone thinks that our season will be wrecked by someone who has only been here 5 minutes in closed season leaving then they need to get some perspective.
The lack of a new quality CB and a play maker in the middle is a bit troubling, until we sell Ruddy Fer Ollsson or Hooper then NA and McNasty get my full backing.
We should keep all of our best players until January ,re assess then to see if we look like going up or the players don`t perform then sell when idiot panicky prem managers try to buy their way out of trouble at inflated prices.
We have money in the coffers and don`t need to sell anyone with more than 12 months left on their contracts so McNally needs to earn his crust now.

I honestly don`t know where we are going to get this elusive swashbuckling midfielder like a Wilshire Van der Vaart or Fabregas but i`m not a football manager also we can poach pretty much any player from the Championship with our spending power.

Bit mixed TBH. Not really recovered from being (avoidably some would say) relegated. Not convinced with manager or back room at the moment but at the end of the day we follow our team.

Wonder how many others would keep their jobs after losing the company £50 million in income?
