I'm the opposite; I have a strong aversion to paying professionals to make/build/fix something for me. Maybe it's the Jew in me. I'll always have a whack at it first.

Now I really want some potato salad.

The pic on the Kickstarter does look bloody delicious. And now I'm realising this is the third successive work day in which I've ended up talking about food and torturing myself before lunch.

If it helps, I tried finding the thread on Reddit where people were talking about it and came across /r/potatosalad which is erm... interesting. SFW but won't make you hungry.

That was unexpected. Along the same lines, have you seen /r/superbowl?

I have a feeling FLT is a little bit like me. Why do it yourself, when you can pay someone else to do it better?

My exact stance on pretty much all DIY.

Hmm. I do get quite concerned about the modern person. Most can't even wire a plug up these days, mainly because of sealed units. The throwaway, health and safety society has begotten throwaway, health and safety people. People are no use in anything other than what they do. They can't adapt, and besides, there is always an expert out there who can hang you out to dry.
Nowadays, I can adapt in a heart beat, and I've always been fairly adaptable. I've never thought can't do that.

Don't take any of that personally, Pepys. I know many/most of you live rewarding and fulfilled lives, but I would advise you to get your hands dirty occasionally. It'll be good for you to try. :)

And with that, I must go and adapt something. ;)

All of the above. I am just not cut that way. I get angry, impatient, don't have the tools and have a natural ability to balls anything practical up.

Yep, me too. In fairness I do actually enjoy sometimes working practically - jeeze, I spent a part of my life building a house in the Philippines and doing all sorts of extremely masculine things of that ilk out there.

I'm just not very good at it!

There is though a MASSIVE sense of satisfaction when you do something yourself though, granted (I even find that with cooking).

It's mentioned on /r/nfl every now and then so I have, it's impressive. Also /r/johncena is full of potato salad pictures which I suppose is expected.

Ah..! That's a shame. Still. I think, these days, you're in good company. Most people are that way, I feel, whereas 20-30 years ago you'd possibly still be in the minority, I think. Or maybe I just think these things are easy when they really aren't.

Anyway, must go to work. I'm sure Chilco is making us all look good. :)

Cooking is the best one and I'm sure FLT will be right with you there. If I ever have a Saturday or Sunday on my own with nothing to do I make chili. I bloody love my chili.

Well there you go then. Excellent..! :)

You been working overtime again, Chilco..?

Not my doing TSS! It was actually moreinjuredthanowen, one of the Liverpool board mods, who reported him, I was just filling people on here in. There do seem to be quite a few trolls emerging from under their bridges and registering as Saints fans these days, and taking advantage of our current state of tension with certain other clubs. I can only recommend that if anyone goes on another board, please keep it decent and be aware of the respective "sensitive" issues for the club you are visiting.

Me too. I make a mean chilli if I say so myself.

We should share recipes and ideas and perhaps we can come up with the ultimate chili if we put all our heads together. In fact can we have a new thread stickied just for this?
