Went to the old Yugoslavia...truly beautiful. Don't know which bit is in which present day country...saw the Plitvice Lakes, Porec and Kranska Gora amongst other things. Seemed very poor and not much in the shops, but Russians went there for shopping and holidays, so heaven knows what Russian shops had. The tv in the hotel lounge showed a communist party conference to a completely empty room apart from our guide. She had been in the resistance during the war and hated Germans with a vengeance...took us to visit a village wiped out during the war by the Germans...don't know what the Germans in our party thought. All the goods were priced, but the locals halved it for the English...they called the marked price 'the German price.' Must go back again.

You're welcome. :)

Indeed it is. We've had beautiful seafood dinners and langoustines that would have cost 100s in the UK.

And wine has been the cheapest drink on the menu in most places :D

Ergh wine. :p

Dubrovnik wasn't overly cheap unfortunately. Bloody nice food though. There was this odd local dish which is a rooster which has been castrated before maturity (quite different from chicken as it it turns out) in orange and honey sauce and served on gnocchi. Dubrovnik Capon, I think it's called.

Poor Genie.

Haha! Most sympathetic

I was reading in the paper today about the bad blood between Laura and Genie. Apparently they had the same coach, Nick Saviano, but now he exclusively coaches Bouchard. They used to be such good friends that Genie stayed with Laura and her family when they were playing at Wimbledon, obviously that's not the case any more. Shame as one can only dream of what they got up to on those sleepovers

Laura's been very complimentary about her this last week or so. Genie is still being catty, the evil bitch. And that thought of their sleepovers will help me get to sleep tonight, if it doesn't get me too excited.

You called?! Yes, Fable.

In other music news, now Polly has mentioned it we can talk about it, but new Pink Floyd album in October (taken from 1994 sessions).
