I really don't think we're struggling if we have to put Quinny in. He's been good for us every time he's played, but it looks like his injury and lack of game time has made everyone forget about his talent.

I don't think all these attacking players will fit in together, surely part of the reason we're going for all of them (if true) is depth. Is it even possible to fit Brady, Snodgrass, Ince, Huddlestone, Livermore, Long, Jelavic into one team? Like the idea of Brady at LB but it seems overly attacking to me. Mind you he can't be any more liable than Figgy.

If Brady is to be a LB then I'd say him and Rosie at the back isn't weak at all, obviously we'd all love to get rid of figgy but I'm fairly sure he'll still be here next season as cover which isn't too bad
 
People should remember that SAF saw him as a future LB and he certainly has defensive ability as shown when played at LWB

I am sure that there is a sensible formation that fits them all in. We wouldnt be going for them if there wasnt.

I don't think Bruce will try to fit them all in the team at one go, think he's got one eye on the subs bench and the lack of premiership quality on it last season , once he'd picked the first 11 there was not much pressure on them for place's, its a fact that in the squad there are several player's who fall into the gap between the championship and the premiership, from my own point of view I think Mcshane, Quinn, Boyd and Myler are struggling at this level. But were excellent in the championship.
 
As I mentioned in another thread Brady does alright at wing back because he's higher up the field and his speed allows him to beat others to the ball and cover areas well in defence. I'd love to see Brady at left back attack wise, it'd be mental, but it's worrying when he has players running at him and playing as an ordinary left back that will happen often, in the box as well. He's not the best in the tackle is he.

Wouldn't mind so much a level below but not in the premier league, wingers are too skilful and cheating ****s I think. I really do think a left back or right back should be high priority. Rosey is comfortable on either side so it's doesn't matter much which, but I think we definitely need to improve that area and I think Brucey will.

On Quinn, decent player, hard worker but he's not really premier league quality. I've not forgotten how good he was in the championship at all but I did think he was overhyped a bit back then. I think some real improvement is needed in the middle really' quite often we looked hapless trying to play through teams last season and resorted to just giving it to Elmo to lump into the box from anywhere down the right hand side or just having the centre halves welly it up top and bypass the midfield altogether. I think someone who plays a bit like Koren would be the perfect fit but a proper holding midfielder would also be pretty much just as good if it gave Huddlestone more licence to play in the opponents half of the pitch.

All down to Brucey though, he knows best. I do wonder though if we do end up signing snotarse and ince whether that will spell the end for Boyd, Quinn or anyone else. I guess it would be.

Not sure about that. We'll need a bit more depth going forward and I think that's a part of it. Mind you the amount we're paying these new singings as well as Tom, Jake, Shawnie, Long and Jelavic, you'd think most of them would expect to get a lot of game time, but I'm just not sure we can fit them all in. We'll inevitably get injuries again of course, and this could just end up meaning we don't suffer as badly with just a couple of injuries.

I don't agree he doesn't have the quality. His crossing seems to lead to goals with amazing regularity considering how little he plays. In fact he created both our goals in the cup final with his crossing. I think because he's a hard worker everyone thinks that's it, but he's got a wand of a left foot too. He's been forced out the side a bit thanks to his injuries and the form of the other three, but I think he's a very capable alternative.

All of the ones you just listed will fit. There is no doubt about it. Your original scenario had Brady in it. Thats a different question but there is no doubt all the ones you just listed will start. Lets also remember that Brady had what one goal from free play before his injury? That isnt exactly setting the world alight, Brady will be back up. I think he will keep improving I am not trashing him. Once injuries occur as they always do we will be fine. This isnt that much depth really. Especially since Aluko cant stay fit to save his life. Meyler, Quinn, Boyd and the others were all going to be squad players.
 
I personally believe Figueroa will has a much stronger second season with us. Let's not forget how he looked very good when first joining us and if he can/has get his personal issues sorted out then he will do much better I believe as he had a strong World Cup.

I don't understand how some people are saying Quinn isn't BPL quality, don't think he started a game other than MUFC away in his preferred CM role in a 3 man midfield while also having a great game in the FA Cup final.

Meyler on the other hand was surprisingly brilliant and key in last seasons success and will continue to play a big part in this coming season, even with potential midfield signings I still believe he will hit the 25+ appearance mark.
 
If we sign Snodgrass and Ince then there will be selection dilemmas all season when fit. In a 442 we are becoming spoilt for choice.

If we do play 352 where do Ince and Snodgrass fit? Not sure either is a wing back and will track back. I can see Snodgrass being part of the midfield three but that would mean Meyler dropping to the bench.
 
Ince signing is incredible news, best bit of news we've had so far. Now if only we spent the Snodgrass money on say Scott Sinclair... we'd have 2 young wingers with excellent potential.
 
Come out of the blue a bit if Ince suddenly signs.

I'll believe it when I see it because I thought Lescott was a done deal t'other week.

Ince is quality and it would appear that we're building a squad of real talent and depth now.

True. We will be fine in central midfield come to think of it, I forgot we have Dougie Wilson.

Meyler will be a big player again but what happens if he suffers a bad injury? It's not like he hasn't had a bit of history with injuries either. Same with Huddlestone, in fact it was surprising he managed what must be his first ever injury free campaign last season. An injury to either, or worse both, how would that leave us?
