Barton. Don't remember anyone calling for him to be banned for life, BBC Bobbie Savage said just that about Suarez and international football.

I wouldn't argue with Suarez being banned for 6 months from international football, even a year, any more than that is ridiculous, no way should there be a domestic ban.

On the last one the FA said they cannot consider his offence in Holland yet they increased his ban because of that incident, slight contradiction there<laugh>

****ing idiot is the term that comes to mind when I think of Suarez, he's got to be in for the award of thickest ****ing eejit to grace the turf

FIFA can though, and will. and the PL bite as well.
No clue what punishment he will get tbh.
At this point its useless guessing, they will tell us soon.

I think FIFA is a highly political organisation. What did you expect with Blatter at the helm? And with him wanting reelection he wouldn't want to upset the South American block vote.

So I expect like a 5 match international ban. With Uruguay appealing so that the racist can play until the Guays are eliminated. Rather than the 12 month universal ban (domestic and international) he deserves..<ok>

Yes but the FA said they couldn't as it was a different jurisdiction. But did anyway <laugh>

Misread, you said FIFA, apologies<doh>

Amazing how you can't grasp it Sisu, but it seems I have to make allowances for your Suarez tinted glasses. The FA found his biting totally unacceptable, and so soon after his racist comments, he got the ban he deserved. His previous form didn't influence them, the decision was on the violent form of biting an opponent .

Surely even your pea brain can accept that.

You jumped on me when I said the exact same thing on the Liverpool board.

No I didn't, get a quote mate, I had a go at you for saying he was the worst ever, biggest eejit is entirely differnt, you were making out he was the scummiest scum to ever play pro football, I disagreed and rightly so, and also throwing abuse you didn't tolerate yourself as a mod.. that too<whistle>

I think many would agree that you are not the average unbiased fan mate, no abuse, just a fact, you hate Liverpool, I get it, no big deal, goes with the territory, same here about United, but you let that make you depart with reason and logic.

A year ban, of which I said would be OK is a massive ban, huge. he may not even get that. He may get worse, but 1 or 2 year total bans are for drug cheats, like Ferdinand <whistle>

sisu, not only do you talk nonsense, you must have a severe inferiority complex. This is the United board, yet you seem obsessed with sticking your comments on here. Or is the Liverpool board too much of an effort ?.

Or maybe your really an admirer of Uniteds success over the last 25 years.

But going back to the thread, Suarez has now bee found guilty of racism, biting on 2 occasions, with a 3rd to be judged upon. A deliberate hand ball in a world cup match, and endless other dives and cheating. Maybe you can show me a player with a worse record?

But then again, nobody has been as mentally unstable/thick as Suarez on the field of play.

To which you replied (to Tobes):

Stop focusing on that point to put up your straw man, the point was, and the one which you avoided of course in your straw man ploy, failed one at that, is that he is not the worst player to take to the pitch as Drogs said, who I was replying to. Context is everything you clown

So you are also talking bollocks lad.

No one is denying he's done this three times and deserves punishment.

it's the over the top nonsense that he's the worst ever that is just ****e talk tbh.

As for the mod thing, I was previously ignoring it but since you brought it up: I never once banned somebody for doing as I did on that thread. Astro is a tool, as are you. I'm not the only one who thinks so <ok>

Barton never bit anyone. Let alone three people in less than four years.

On the last one the FA said they cannot consider his offence in Holland yet they increased his ban because of that incident, slight contradiction there<laugh>

Not really. It's the difference between verdict and sentencing. Judges regularly try to prohibit juries from hearing about the past convictions of an accused to ensure their verdict is fair, but a repeat offender is always punished more severely if found guilty. No difference from not making a verdict on Suarez based on his past history, but increasing his punishment as a result of it.

I can certainly see Suarez getting a domestic ban if he gets a long international ban. FIFA would definitely consider a ban from all footballing activity, same as for Rio, Cantona and others who got long bans. The FA even has rules in place already - repeat offenders for racism offences or assaults causing grievous bodily harm can be banned from all football activities for at least five months.

It can be argued that the bite wouldn't qualify as GBH, but the FA has shown itself over the years to be an incredibly media reactive organisation, and I have no doubt that the FA probably has people going over its rules right now trying to find a way to bend them to ban Suarez, depending on what punishment FIFA imposes.

No, but he did far more serious assault at least three times, maybe more.

Really, a bite is gross, disgusting, unnatural, and shouldn't be tolerated- but it is far less dangerous that many other forms of assault. A bite does show a degree of short-term planning... unlike a punch or a kick... you have to plan it at least a few seconds ahead of time- because you need to manoever yourself for the bites, etc... you can't just lash out, like with a punch, before you really comprehend what you're doing.

I think part of why the bite is so revolting to so many of us, is the unusualness of the assault.

In less than three minutes!

Significantly, they were not carried out ON the football field.

Your deffo not the only one who thinks that lol

I don't understand why people bring up Barton, everyone thinks he is also a tool so it's a mute point.

To be honest, I would be far more sympathetic to a player who actually decked another with a clear punch on the spur of the moment, but biting is a childish and petulant thing to do. Also, as pointed out before, biting takes planning and is premeditated, so Suarez planned this on THREE separate occasions.

Some of you on here are too young to recall, but Denis Law played for Torino before moving to United. He found that the Italian "sneaky" fouls were the worst, where opposing players would ruffle his hair in a friendly manner, then give it a hard tug when the ref wasnt looking. Players would offer a helping hand if a player had gone down, but then pinch as hard as possible, when helping him up, hoping the player would react and take a swing, thus getting a sending off. I actually saw the Lawman play, and he was one guy who could dish it out as well as take it when he played for United. But sadly this is all nostalgia, back in the days when men played a mans game.

Oh how the present system has changed for the worse

That's the whole point. He did worse, and usually got less of a punishment. Not saying that Suarez didn't deserve the book thrown at him- it's just a matter of perspective... beat the crap out of people... 3 match ban. Bite someone without even breaking the surface (although I'm sure he would if he could)- 4 month ban- not allowed access even to stadiums or training grounds.

The biting is bad and disgusting... but there are other things which we just accept. An elbow, a kick, a stomp. In no way do I think they should be lenient with Suarez... but they should perhaps be a little more strict- and focus a little more attention on what some of our home-grown thugs can do.
