Apologies if already discussed [Got to go off to MOT the old red and black thing on the left, in a minute], but I'm with MLT on the subject of Spurs' English players not wanting to play for England at various times. I think Redknapp is being his usual open self, but I should imagine it doesn't just apply to Spurs. Where I differ from MLT is that I'm not shocked in the slightest. The exhibited attitude within the England structure is that they've all seen and done it, and playing for England is a bit of a stroll, to be enjoyed when they fancy.
And I reiterate. England players ARE good enough to progress through a tournament, maybe even win it. Certainly to qualify from a group stage. But they play below their potential all the time. Let's face it, you're not going to bust a gut if you have a losing attitude either, so one, you don't play as well as you otherwise could, and two, you cry off when you really don't fancy it.
No English player says they want to represent their country, as the pinnacle of their achievement. They want to play Champions league football. It's only when they're asked about playing for England do they slip into the highest honour mode.
