I hate the thought of losing Adam, but if it was what he wanted, I'd come to terms with it eventually, however if as you said, we lost two or three key players together (with a long term future) such as Shaw, Lallana, Schneiderlin, then I'd be wondering too. If it is one of them, I'd accept it as one of those things.

We need a world class striker more than we need a world class left back. If United came in with £30m for Shaw you can understand why Mauricio may take it. We can get a striker and 1 or 2 other decent players for that + the Osvaldo sale. And like people have already said if Shaw is the only casualty it'll be far from the end of the world. We moved on when we lost Chamberlain a few years back. Lallana is the only player in our squad who I believe to be genuinely irreplaceable.

If we lose them 3 I would think the rumours Cortese was the driving force are true.

There was talk that Rickie had virtually gone in January before Osvaldo went rogue...so Nicola may not be above selling players if he needed to. Selling one star could be acceptable, but I agree selling the spine of the team would indicate retrenchment. However, no word from the club suggests anything of the sort...no need to sell players has been reported on 2-3 occasions. May sell, but won't be wholesale.

Which would make what they have said a lie. Which would piss me off even more. But that's just wait and see.

Yeah but we have a (potentially) world class left-back and we would find it very difficult to attract a world class striker. The likeliest scenario is we get good money for Shaw then we spend it on two or three mid-range players rather than one great one. We just don't have the pulling power to bring these kinds of players in, particularly if we're losing our best players to other teams.

An interesting summer ahead. For me there's still a slight question mark over the intentions of the new board and the next 4-5 months will hopefully tell us a lot about where the club is actually going now.

They have said no one leaves that Mauricio wants and we won't know one way or the other until the summer. So I'm taking them at their word until proved otherwise.

Luke has favourited a tweet from a Man United fan saying he hopes Shaw moves to United in the Summer. That's it he's off. We all know Twitter is 100% accurate.

We got Lovren and Wanyama last summer and while I'm not saying they're world class I think they're better than 'mid-range'. If we got that kind of quality up front, which we would be able to afford after selling Shaw, then I think that would be a good bit of business. I know Shaw will be a world class left back but selling him doesn't necessarily make us a selling club, it just means we need the funds to prioritise different areas. Hopefully with the core of our team still in tact, Mauricio here next year and if the ambition of the board is at least 80% of Cortese's, we should have the same amount of pulling power.

Big debate ongoing on United Board. Lots of banter between them and Chelski.

Well, he has since unfavourited it and favourited another one saying "maybe @LukeShaw3 didn't mean to favourite the tweet he favourited then un-favourited #saintsfc" so I think we can draw a line under that one.

Ok, sure, but we need more pulling power to bring in genuinely world class players. It's not as simple as selling Shaw and then bringing in players who are just as good or better. There are a lot of bigger clubs (in terms of reputation and financial clout) in the market for players like that, which is why our board (under Cortese and since) has always said the best way for us to progress is to keep hold of our young stars.

Yes, I agree we're not going to attract top end world-class players, that's obvious. I just don't believe selling Shaw would necessarily be a bad move, if we were to strengthen intelligently. Of course I'd rather keep him and strengthen, but if Mauricio has a few in mind that would require the extra funds then I will support that decision.

It would just underline that we are a selling club, and that anyone with a few quid can come and take their pick of our best prospects. I just don't believe there is anyone available for any money who would make that exchange worthwhile.
