And apparently just because Standard Chartered give us a bucketload of money doesn't entitle them to have a bit of cyan - that's Everton cyan, also known as Chelsea lightgreenyblue - on our 3rd kit. One woman on the Mirror pages, whom none of the other fans seem to like, has been losing sleep over it. It was suggested by one wag that she offer to replace Standard Chartered as main sponsor.

I don't see what the big deal is - I'd like them all to count how many times our players actually wear the shirt on the pitch next season. It's there for the novelty value alone; they made a bad decision putting blue on it - because there'll be barely any sales, but they won't be making that mistake again.

my view is that if its annie eaves on the mirror then its a manc winding people up...

look the colour is unimportant to me. I can see exactly why some numpty designed it..... they just looked at what colours go well with adult jeans and such, that shirt will sell like hot cakes in asia, us or whereever..... it is designed for adult fans to buy as a fahsion item... or in other works designed to milk plastics.

its that simple. the designer i don't think considered i nthe least what colours are out of question or really had a consultation process with this fans council etc.

anyway.... at least this way evertons colour will see some success right? (joke for any bitter toffee man stalking, you know is a joke so lighten up and jog on)

I think it looks far better than our black kit and will be bette ro nthe pitch for the players too..... that said i admit seeing it on players will look odd.

Lets just think about this..... red, black, white.

19 away games, red won't be used in how many? then askthe question where will balck not be allowed to be used (rules are no part of kit can look the same)

I am reckoning that utd away might just be the only place this kit gets used.

That's the one who tries to write comedy, right? This was commenter Faith, always on there, almost always first comment and talking like she's got inside knowledge that turns out to be wrong.

    Saturday 18th June 2011:

Fabio Aurelio has praised fellow Brazilian Lucas and said he deserves his place as a key team member.

Newcastle United have signed reported long term Liverpool target Sylvain Marvaux. (Did Liverpool pull out because of Carroll? or maybe Enrique?)

Martin Skrtel has revealed what he believes to be the biggest impact Kenny Dalglish has made on the Liverpool squad - a surge in confidence and self-belief.

"He told us the most important thing was a good team spirit and if we played together we could get some success. He has kept our confidence high and that has been the most important thing.

"Appointing him (permanently) was definitely the best option. I'm happy because he is a nice person and a great manager. I can see the future under him being very good."

    Sorry for the late post.

    Monday 20th June 2010:

Liverpool will finish their pre season preparations with an exciting friendly at home to Spanish Giants Valencia on August 6th. (I personally feel this is the exact kind friendlies LFC should be playing, as you cant truly practice and prepare for Premier League football against lower league teams and tours of other continents (though the Asia tour is great)).

    -

Following the release of the 2011/2012 fixtures on Friday, Liverpool Football Club have confirmed the LFC Official Members' Ticket Sale process for Barclays Premier League home fixtures due to be played before December 31st 2011.

for the record i happen to know that the mirror picks up people like that and really doesn;t want them to be truthful, just out there so that they attract readership.

or should i say they attract people with gossip and a bit of opinion content but want to distingush themselves from other sites by adding internet fans content thats not serious.

the rumour on valencia... and mata is interesting but one feels it is hard to believe it seeing the player cannot be signed yet but the friendly is confirmed

Rumour? I mentioned no rumour, just confirmed news. This thread isnt the rumours thread, thats next door.

    Any way

    -

    Tuesday 21st June 2011:

Steven Gerrard claims the longest lay-off of his football career has made him desperate to return with a bang when the Barclays Premier League season starts in August.

"I want to come back with a bang, I want to have a big season," Gerrard told Liverpoolfc.tv in an interview during the Steven Gerrard Foundation Trophy golf event in Portugal.

"It's been non-stop football for me since I started when I was 17. I've never had a period of more than four or five weeks out of the game, so it's been nice to rest mentally. You don't want to miss games but when you're watching them it gives you that edge, that buzz to get back. I'll come back hungry and hopefully there's a very productive season ahead for me.'

Gerrard has actually taken his physio on holiday to Portugal with him to make sure he keeps up his recovery. Dedication!

    -

Alan Kennedy believes the Reds will challenge for the title next season – and points to the way Kenny Dalglish ended his own Liverpool career in 1985 as proof the Scot has a knack of getting things right.

hi, no i guess i'm mentioning the rumour... lol... it seems the friendly has sparked a wave of wishful thinking which will no doubt surface i nthe press as an offical rag rumour within a couple of days... mata to liverpool followed quickly by the ever resiliant press ahcks who spend their lives reversing rumours to make new one.

mata to city, arsenal and utd to come.

but you are right the rumour thread is next door.

the comments by gerrard are all well and good but i think his body has more to say baout it than his wishes... if he doesn't break down in preseason training/games that will be a good first step but then i am looking to the first game followed quickly by a meaningless international in which no doubt he'll injure himself.

nice holiday for the physio i suppose.

alan kennedy is also being optomistic on our behalf given the squad as it stands, its an assumption that 5/6 more players will come it at this point. no europe should aid us but if the team aint up to scratch challenging is not possible... 4th is but an actuall challenge = within 3/6 points with 10 games to go and following in on it.

    Wednesday 22nd June 2011:

Joey Barton thinks Steven Gerrard is the most gifted player of his generation to appear in the Premier League.

Both players grew up in Huyton before carving careers as dynamic midfielders - but Barton believes that neither he or anyone else can compare with Liverpool's No.8 over recent years.

    -

Stephan Henchoz has become the latest former player to praise Dalglish and his new Liverpool.

He told Liverpoolfc.tv: "I think the future looks bright. Kenny Dalglish is back as the manager and I am sure he is going to bring back success to Anfield. The players they have signed, especially Suarez, have done very well.

"The young players have got a lot of quality, so for me next year I think they will get back into the top four and from there they can push on from that.

"Hopefully in a couple of years time they can win the title."

    Further update:

It was a dramatic Liverpool victory that sparked ecstatic celebrations at the Academy.

This young side may not have bragged the likes of Raheem Sterling and Conor Coady but the quality and spirit they showed in pulling off a late comeback against a dominant Manchester City was a credit to every boy in red.

The 3-2 win for a Liverpool team made up of under-16s from Stockbridge Village, put them top of the regional group of the annual Kickz Cup and forward to the national finals.

Liverpool under-16s' table-topping effort was no mean feat as they triumphed over a City side which made a rampant start, scoring 16 and conceding just twice in their opening four fixtures, thrashing rivals Man United 6-0 in the process.

    -

Liverpool's Under-17 youngsters will be looking to impress again for England when they take on Canada in their second game of the FIFA World Cup in Mexico tonight.

    -

    The futures bright.

    Thursday 23 June 2011:

Terry McDermott believes new signing Jordan Henderson has all the necessary attributes to establish himself as a goal-scoring midfielder for Liverpool.

"I never scored many for Newcastle and if you look at my record you'll see I didn't get many in the first few seasons at Liverpool," McDermott, who netted 81 goals in 329 games for Liverpool.

"I began to realise what I needed to do to score more often. I was good at getting forward and knew that I could score more goals. The coaches at the club encouraged me to do it and that helped too. All of a sudden I was getting 15 to 20 goals a season.

"I think if Jordan works on that side of his game, there's no reason why he can't get double figures too. He's definitely capable of it. I think he has shown that with the goals he has scored for Sunderland."

    -

Adam Morgan took his prolific goalscoring form at club level onto the international stage last night with a strike in England's 2-2 draw with Canada at the FIFA U17 World Cup.
