Friday 30th September 2011: Jonjo Shelvey has joined Championship side Blackpool under December 31st. This loan move should gift him more regular first team football and a chance to gain experience and improve his game. - Jose Enrique believes Liverpool will have had a 'very good' start to 2011-12 if they beat Everton in Saturday's lunch-time kick-off. "It was really important we got three points in the last game," Enrique told Liverpoolfc.tv. "We had some games that were not really good, like Stoke and Tottenham, but if we get another three points this weekend it can be a very good start for us. "I know some people were a little bit scared (after defeats to Stoke and Tottenham) but it's normal. We've got some new players here like me, and we have to play more games together, but it's a nice squad and we have some good players here. "It's just about playing our football, not caring whether we're away or at home. If we play our football I think we can beat anyone."
Sorry for the gap guys. Fortunately its been a quiet week with the internationals coming up. Thursday 6 October 2011: Steve Clarke believes Steven Gerrard is ready to use the international break as an opportunity to step up his return to full fitness. The captain has made three substitute appearances since recovering from a groin problem, tallying just under an hour on the pitch in total. The first-team coach told Liverpoolfc.tv: "For Steven it's just a progression. He's coming back from a long-term injury and we'll try to treat him as cautiously and carefully as we can. "Obviously there will be a time when he is going to have to push on - and I think this is the time now. "We've only got a very small group of players left behind because we've got a lot of players away on international duty. There were only six players training on Wednesday, but we managed to get a lot of good work into them with such a small number. "On Thursday we'll bring up the reserve-team squad to join in, which will give us more numbers. - Ian Rush today explained why he believes the firepower available at Kenny Dalglish's disposal can help Liverpool achieve success this season. "It's always pleasing to see so many options - we've got four or five strikers who can change a game. "They're different options and make Liverpool stronger than last season. "It was great to see Steven Gerrard and Craig Bellamy come on to strengthen the team against Everton - and that's what Liverpool have got this season.
Hey guys. This thread is not dead!! I'v just been away for a little while and have been out of the loop a bit. But today can we do this in reverse, and you tell me if any thing major has happened since my last post?
According to todays Daily Telegraph Liverpool have not been condemned by all quarters in their overseas tv deal proposal. They have an allie in Manchester United. Although Manchester United won't say so publicly, The Glazer family have held discussions with their Liverpool counterparts Fenway Sports Group.
Is this about the TV rights thing? The one concern with the Glazers is they could leave Manchester at any time.
It is about the TV rights thing. I'm in agreement with it. For one reason and one reason only. Liverpool have something that Manchester City and Chelsea don't and thats world-wide global appeal. Its like a weapon. Why not use it? The PL is supposed to be competitive and it should allow all clubs to use their weapons, the one thing that they've got that is different to the rest. If the PL don't allow this, they will get their ''Predictable Premiership'' It will be Manchester City and Chelsea, year in, year out. They will then lose audience figures.
Hammersmit Blue. Here's my description of Chelsea. You're a small club in Fulham A small club in Fulham You're a small club in Fulham.
This a LFC Today thread and has been a well conducted thread set up by jkielq91. Please don't come on here and turn it into an argument... I'm not saying you are, but this has always been a strictly Liverpool thread and it would be best if it stayed that way There are plenty of other threads that you and KPR can debate on. Cheers.
Friday 14th October 2011: Charlie Adam believes who ever wins the midfield battle at Anfield tomorrow will win the game. He is hoping to start his first north west derby, despite a lot of midfield competition. - Martin Kelly has shrugged off any doubts about his fitness and declared himself ready to help Liverpool record a fourth straight victory over Manchester United at Anfield. - Former manager Roy Evans believes Liverpool are serious contenders to win the Premier League this season. Evans, Anfield boss between 1994 and 1998, insisted: "We could do it this year, never write Liverpool off." He said: "You have got to believe you can win it. There's no point being in it if you don't think you can win it, certainly at Liverpool's level - that's where you've got to be. "You've got to have in your mind that, if you went on a bit of a run, you have got a chance. "We've got to keep progressing. We could do it this year, never write Liverpool off. "There's still plenty of football to go. Liverpool play Manchester United on Saturday at Anfield and, if we beat them, it will set them back a little bit and give us lots of confidence. "Liverpool are going the right way, they are going forward - and I think it's been a fantastic year under John Henry."
Sunday 16th October 2011: Steven Gerrard says he has mixed emotions from yesterdays game. He played his first 90 minutes since his long injury spell out, he scored his first goal of the season, but is also disappointed that Liverpool did not hang on to the lead to take all three points. He told Liverpoolfc.tv: "It was almost the perfect way to mark my return to the team. "To be leading against Manchester United with 10 minutes to go, the lads are a bit gutted we didn't hang on and take maximum points. "But they are a very good side and very dangerous, so we're happy with the point. It's a point gained rather than two lost." - Kenny Dalglish insists that being disappointed with a draw against United proes how much the team has improved. Dalglish reflected: "We could have had the three points, I think it was pretty even and pretty sterile at the beginning of the match. "Their goalkeeper made two fantastic saves and we had a chance right at the end which was a fraction too high for Jordan (Henderson) to get proper contact on it. "It's a real indication of how far we've come when we come into the dressing room and the boys are disappointed that they've drawn 1-1 with Manchester United. "We're delighted that they're disappointed. We'd have been happier if we'd got the three points but the attitude, even when United equalised when we came back and went for the three points, was admirable. The only thing that was missing today was walking away with three points." - The Football Association will investigate claims that Manchester United's Patrice Evra was racially abused by Liverpool's Luis Suarez.
October 18th October 2011: Liverpool will today play a one off friendly with Scottish giants Rangers at Ibrox. Steve Clarke believes tonight's friendly clash with Rangers will provide Liverpool's youngsters with an authentic experience of what it's like to compete in European football. The first-team coach told Liverpoolfc.tv: "Rangers have had a good start to the season. Any time you go to play one of the two big Glasgow teams, Rangers or Celtic, you expect a difficult game - and I'm sure this game at Ibrox will be no exception to that. "Hopefully they'll get a good crowd in for the match - and if they do then the atmosphere will be quite hostile. It's a good learning process for the younger players who maybe haven't experienced that much European football. "If we can get them some time on the pitch I think that will be very beneficial for them in the future." - Ministers should release all government documents relating to the Hillsborough disaster, MPs agree following a debate in the House of Commons. The Hillsborough Family Support Group today welcomed the unanimous passing of a motion calling for full disclosure of government documents at a united House of Commons in a debate lasting almost four and a half hours.
