Sigh. My gut feeling is undecided on this. On one hand I'm pretty sure we're ****ed around once again, but maybe they listen to Pards more these days than they did last time around? Surely they can't leave him in the lurch again after doing quite a good job. If we get someone in, I think we'll be okay, if we don't, I think we're in trouble. Either Anita or Tiote will get injured sooner or later or in the last suspended. Who do we play then? Sissoko through the middle? Recall Gozzah? Geesus.

I still think Marveaux should at least be a sub player, Obertan and Gozzah have burnt all bridges.

Lyon's Clement Grenier has remained coy about his future after Newcastle launched a bid for his signature. Sky Sports revealed earlier this month that the France international midfielder was the man wanted by Newcastle to replace Yohan Cabaye. They lodged a bid on Wednesday and Newcastle are yet to hear a response, but at an awards ceremony, Grenier was asked about his future.

"Sometimes we do not have our own destiny in our hands," he said.

Asked if he was definitely staying at the Stade Gerland, the 23-year-old added: "I have not confirmed that, but you know very well that in football, everything goes very fast.

"I can not say what I know and anyway, I do not know lot of things on this issue.

"Like you, I read the news and I saw my name next to that of Newcastle. But I do not have more information in relation to it.

"The transfer window closes in a few days. We'll see by then. I still have many goals to fulfil collectively and individually with Lyon.

"I also hope to achieve one of my goals, which is to go to the World Cup at the end of the season. So it is not too relevant. In my head, I do not think about the market and any possible transfer rumour."

The issue with France is the bloody Presidents. They're either having affairs or making constantly contradictory statements about players, followed with condescending comments about other clubs.

Latest Grenier bid rejected according to the BBC.

It's not going to happen, I fear we might have to wait until the summer for any further arrivals.

AP on Grenier:"'It's ongoing. He has tremendous creative and technical ability. He's a player fans would love to see at this club." #nufc

If it's 'ongoing' someone had better tell them to get a move on!

Well, sure, but AP's rarely got any idea what's going on. He's probably not aware the bid was rejected.

If this is true then it's a huge, monumental error from the club...you should always sound the player out about how interested they're before bidding for them.

This is all academic anyway since we haven't agreed a fee for the ****. And as for these 'internal sources at Newcastle', I have to wonder if they're putting this out there - true or not - to make it seem as though they've tried and were willing to spend the money but in the end the deal collapsed on the other end. That way no one can blame them - or so they think.

This seems very strange after Grenier's second lot of comments last night. What was he trying to do there, issue a 'come and get me' plea to other clubs? Who knows.

Don't tell me you're naive enough to think it doesn't happen?

    ALL clubs do it.

Well they found out that Cabella was extremely interested, to the point that his father was saying he would join us, and then went cold on him. It wouldn't be too surprising if they then purposefully targeted a player less likely to join, to be followed up with the usual 'we really did try you know' quotes.

Story in Le10Sport interviewing Grenier's agent who confirms that the player turned us down.

Contacted by Le 10 Sport, Frederic Guerra, agent Clément Grenier explains why the middle of Lyon land has not responded to the proposal from Newcastle.

Midweek, while Newcastle had forwarded a proposal of € 13 million Olympique Lyonnais Clément Grenier, Lyon midfielder declined the offer of the Magpies, who sought to compensate for the departure of Yohan Cabaye at Paris Saint-Germain.

"SIX MONTHS OF THE WORLD, A HASTY DEPARTURE WAS IT THE BEST OPTION? "

Reached by telephone today by Le 10 Sport, Frederic Guerra, the agent of Clement Grenier, explains the reasons for this choice: "It is not easy to say no to a big club like Newcastle, but Clement is finally decided to stay in Lyon. Today, with the new game system developed by Rémi Garde, Clement is now demonstrate that it has a richer palette in his game, he proves over the matches. At six months of the World Cup, a precipitate in a few days from the end of the transfer window was it a good option? It's not safe at all. And the OL is regaining color and Clement did not want to leave the club along the way, in full season. "

"THE CONDITIONS OF HIS ARRIVAL AT NEWCASTLE WERE NOT FAVORABLE"

Frederic Guerra adds: "Finally, the conditions of his departure did not create a favorable environment to flourish. Clement would have arrived at Newcastle, not as Clément Grenier, but as a substitute Yohan Cabaye. I have the utmost respect for the quality of player Cabaye, who deserves every point o
