**** me ... a hammer slating us for being badly run????? Avb the best manager weve had in a decade???? What... apart harry and jol ???
I think our club is currently one of the best run in the PL. not spending beyond our means and in a decent financial situ compared to what we were in. Moving to the olympic stadium which will really help us push forward. But the main difference is we dont think we are something we arent. We are currently a low mid table side with a bit of potential to maybe become a top mid table side over the next 3/4 years. We could just as easily bounce between leagues like we have done for the last decade. Spurs think they are genuine title challengers, think that all these high class managers would be interested in managing them and think they have a great chairman and are a well run club. I think the last few weeks and especially todays sacking proves that none of the above are true
The press had us down as title challengers. The supporters? Not really, top 4 maybe. I think you'll find that we don't spend beyond our means either. We just have more to spend. You have history of being just another bitter WUM. Like the majority of Westfield United fans who dislike Spurs, you need to get it into your head that there is no rivalry between us. Your rivals are Orient and Millwall (who you will be playing next season.) It is your irrelevence that makes you bitter. And you are right. "But the main difference is we dont think we are something we arent. We are currently a low mid table side with a bit of potential to maybe become a top mid table side over the next 3/4 years." Just isn't true.
Geordie fan in peace. In relation to the recent deemed results that appear to have been AVB demise. 0-1 NUFC - Your team battered ours and on another day it could have been 5-1 to you but not for Krul. 6-0 Man City - They are thrashing most teams at the Etihad. Although on the high side, it was a bad result. 2-2 Man Utd - Good result. But not if you want to win the league. 2-1 Fulham - Good result, performance average but still 3 points. 2-1 Sunderland - Good result, performance average but still 3 points. 0-5 Liverpool - Bad performance not helped by the sending off. But on another day it may have been a yellow card. In essence the run of form was average to poor but not awful. I think AVB given time would have done a good job but I realistically dont see anyone else coming in and doing that much better. His tactics maybe not quite right in some games, possibly. Did he actually sign the players or did the board. Being a toon fan we go through our fair share of ****, our club is ran by a clown in the footballing sense of the word (ironically he is a spuds fan apparently) but on a financial front he is the man. We have a puppet in charge who 6 weeks ago we wouldnt have been surprised if he had been sacked... but this brings me on to my main point. Expectations: The board stuck by Pardew and look at our recent form. The sacking of AVB is nothing more than pressing the panic button, making him the scapegoat to give someone else 6-12 months to see if they can break the top 4. We as toon fans have been in the past deemed delusional for expecting to be higher up the table, challenging for honours when in fact all we are really interested in is a good game of entertaining football. What realistically can be your expectations. People have stated in this thread the big four teams. Liverpool look strong and so do Everton. We wont be amongst it and realistically I think your expectations should have been challenging for top 4. More than plausable right now. You are only 5 points away. Any bananna, my last point will be. I would like to place on record that I dont care which manager you get in right now you will be in the top 7 by the end of the season.
Really?...did you not see Football Focus with one of your owners saying they would never have wasted the fee and wages on Carroll had they'd realised how injury prone the player is. "Had they realised how injury prone" ...Shouldn't you be questioning who said he was ok to buy? And no WE do not think we are title contenders, don't make me laugh, clueless media nonsense picked up on by clueless public.
Your own owner has slagged off your biggest ever buy to the media over the weekend! The fact that you still can't get past the idea that Spurs are far better run than West Ham is pretty hilarious, to be honest. Still, at least you'll have a couple of derby games next season. Orient and Millwall await. Will the game against the Os be called El Olympico?
When you spend massive money comes expectation. Rightly or wrongly. Most managers are begging for money to spend, AVB spent 100 million so has to take the rough with the smooth. And the early season performances were also poor but a good defence papered over the cracks. Clubs with aspirations for top 4 don't get beat 3-0, 5-0 and 6-0 in the space of a few weeks (2 of which were at home to sides below Spurs last year). AVB has been found out.
I'm no fan of AVB and wasn't a fan of Redknapp but if people can't see that Levy is the root problem then this is just a rat race for Spurs. This is all on Levy, and IMO he should resign.
Welcome to the board Pardew was the first manager for a long time that got you guys playing & got results and was rightly rewarded. If you stay in and around where you are then he will be fine, but if for instance you sold cabaye and Krul, and brought in 60m worth of talent and you struggled (like you did earlier in the year when all your jan players were still bedding in) after having raised expectations then he could easily be sacked. Throw in some ****e football, and you defo wouldn't put up with it for long. Other fans don't see: the high line not working the inverted wingers not working soldado not scoring or getting any service benny being loaned out and not replaced kyle naughton being played at LB Lamela playing his best game for us in Europe, then getting benched. It all adds to the frustration...then throw in those results after than and you get our current situation. It looks nee jerk, but it really isn't. Also, Levy may be to blame for sacking Harry (can be argued he deserved it) and Jol (can be argued he wasn't up to beating the top 4) but you cannot argue with the fact we are much much better off than league wise than before ENIC and he took over. Nobody has idea's above their station, we just believe we have a squad capable of challenging for top4, we are told by the media we have a squad capable of challenging for top 4 and we are told by the club we are chasing top 4 when this is not being met, then we need to do something about it.
He puts himself and his ego before the club. Exactly what the media have (wrongly, IMO) accused Abramovich and Wenger of doing in the past.
Yeah, because Abramovich sacked Mourinho for what exactly the first time around? Being too good, perhaps?
Two things, its transpiring avb did not ask for all of these players, definetly Lamela, who was insisted on by Baldini, despite having 5, yes FIVE other players already here for that position. Yet that Italian twat sent 30 odd mill of our money to his old club. Our defence has been **** all season, it was rarely tested in the run of games you base your opinion on here, but the stats were good due to the excellent protection by our deep mids, and the 70% possession we had, which has since been described as "passive possession" ie. do fuk all with it! The defence didn't really get tested in that run of games, but when it did the signs were there.
I thought this myself. They have the cheek to look down their nose at us for no good reason. Reality hit yesterday unfortunately.
Who are you talking too? I wouldn't say anyone "looks down their nose" at Liverpool - very strange comment
