So annoyed. Apparently tonight is the Portsmouth Ladies Christmas party but it seems despite running their Facebook page (and recently their Twitter page too) I wasn't even invited. Even though I've helped raise the profile of the team quite a bit I think (they didn't even have a Facebook page last year), even though I've have posted live match-updates on Facebook and Twitter so people can actually see what's going on, even though I've put my own money in on several occasions in order to purchase paid advertising on Facebook to increase the reach, even though it takes me the best part of 2 hours to get to a game, etc, etc, but are they appreciative? Like **** are they.

Was gonna go to the southcoast derby (at Brighton, the Withdean to be precise) but disinclined now.

FWIW, I don't think you've been well treated there, PL. Has anyone acknowledged your efforts..? Has anyone explained..?

However, this might have been an all-women's party. Let's say that it may have been inappropriate to invite you.

Tbh, not really. Every now and then my main contact of the club will say thanks for my work, usually when the times I've messaged them about various Facebook updates (e.g. a player looking to get involved) but aside from that not really. At the end of season awards every single member of staff who's not on the playing side (i.e. all the admin people) were given an award (there was a big group photo of them together) but I wasn't mentioned at all which was a bit disappointing (although tbf, my main contact at the club did apologise for that fact that I wasn't mentioned), but I don't do it for kudos, I do it to make a difference, but it would be nice to feel appreciated. I've never once really felt part of the team.

Dunno whether it's women only but earlier in the season, I was privy to a post-match session where we went around the table and everyone would nominate someone to be fined 20p for whatever reason (most of them would be like none serious reasons like being fined 20p for missing a complete sitter or being fined 20p for scoring only 2 goals and not a hattrick), the manager (who's a male) explained this to me, so if he (and some other males, e.g. the gk coach) were involved, it would suggest that the Christmas party wasn't just for women.

On the bright side I'm now level 3 on Fallout 1

Try it from Glasgow Central, when they've just announced that your train has been cancelled, in the winter, then you can say effort.

Come on, someone's going to beat that. :)

I might add I've got a follow up.

fyi, it wasn't a women only party, seen photos and there's plenty of males in them, including other admin staff. Sigh, time for some Green Day lyrics "Nobody likes you / Everyone left you / They're all out without you/ Having fun." It's high school all over again. Sorry for the moping, just I'm rather disappointed and a bit hurt that they wouldn't even invite me considering the time and money I've put into helping out.

Better that you ask, Pomps. I made that mistake when young...was the only one left out and I let it affect me for a long time. It could hardly have been worse if I'd asked why and found out they didn't want me for some reason. At least I would have had the right of reply and I'd have felt better about myself. Or it could have been an oversight and I'd have gone on the trip. As the party approached, you should have said that you wondered why you hadn't been asked. At least you'd know the true situation and you might have gone to the party or realised you weren't appreciated.

the other day, a lorry driver from Southampton making a delivery at my place of work told me the best way to save money getting the train to Soton for games; "bunk it you mush". Classic.
