Dogging is where people have sex in their cars in lay-bys.

Not necessarily in cars, but that's a common way to do it. It's basically meeting strangers for sex in public, by simply going to pre-determined dogging spots and hanging around until someone else shows up. Lay-bys are common spots.

Apparently the county with the most known spots is Surrey by far, so I can only assume Dan is a regular dogger.

Thanks guys. It's actually an autobiography of a band that has been in the works for a while (the autobiography that is, the band have been in the works an awfully long time). Can't say too much more, but I now have a mixed feeling of happiness and utter trepidation at how much work this is going to be now to put the thing together (the way I'd like it done, anyhow). It's going to be an authorised autobiography, so that means working very closely with them as well.....which brings it's own challenges :)

Well whatever turns one on, I suppose. It's not something I'd considered, but there are ideas and there are ideas. :)

Yep, fantastic to hear of something a little out of the ordinary. Hope it all goes well for you, LTL.

I have total sympathy with MOST cycle riders , several round here do NOT have lights etc ( Very quiet rural area ) , but when I am out and about I do look out for cycle riders as my Dad was one ( ill health stopped that ) and my brother and brother in law are mad keen . I also agree how little space people give them when over taking , I like to think I give them plenty of room ( have held up traffic and been beeped at before now ) .

Again though , why ride on the footpaths at speed ?

BTW, No1J, I wasn't having a go at you earlier today. If I was annoyed with anyone, it was Fran with her comment about riding a motorcycle and breaking your neck. You just happened to get my accumulated annoyance.

Nobody says don't buy a car because you'll eventually have an accident. Don't take that flight or you'll die, or ship or you'll drown. Or even don't have a bicycle because you'll get killed. But as soon as a motorcycle gets mentioned, you're going to die. Well we're all going to die. I'd like to live a little less bored. It's what really pisses me off - the standard uninformed comment.

In my dealings with motorists I find that MOST are fine, but there are always the rogue that you have to look out for, so I have to ride as if everyone is a rogue. It's the safe thing to do. Once again, sorry that you got my annoyed words.

I'm currently enjoying watching militant-atheist, libertarian teenagers cry into their keyboards because Pope Francis won TIME Magazine's person of the year and Edward Snowden didn't.

He is extremely awesome. And he's pushed a lot of progressive opinions on the Catholic world, whereas Snowden has just convinced a bunch of idiots than America is totally as bad as Orwell's 1984.

I think Snowden's pretty cool too, it's good that leaks like his happen, but yeah some of the reactions to it are pretty tragic.

I've just decided that if I ever win Euromillions (or even the lottery), I'm gonna go back to uni and study something really random just for the fun of it. Like archaeology or zoology. May have to start buying tickets now.

Sounds mad but I wouldn't feel comfortable winning millions. I'd get anxious over what I spend it on, I'd feel like I didn't deserve it and feel greedy, especially as if I didn't give most of it to charity executives, I mean charities!, I'd be frowned upon. I'd want to achieve something and have a normal(ish) life, but I could use the money to travel the world!
