On the 'one club man only happen at the top' - you may have heard of a certain Matthew Le Tissier. Adam is at the age where he will have grown up with a poster of him on his bedroom wall as a kid & idolized him. It may not keep him around forever, but I'm pretty sure he's got more loyalty to Southampton than many players have to their others. In fact, I have no doubt he'd move if Barca (for example) came calling, but if we continue to progress at the rate we are and if we meet the ambitions of our chairman few English clubs stand a chance. In previous years, I'd have thought ManU would be able to take him, but not in the state they're in at the moment.
On the transfer fee, yeah, he's tied down on a long contract - it'll take a huge sum to take him from us as we're financially stable now.
On Adam & Carroll, doesn't that say more about your manager and his ability to get the best from players and, of course, your style of play than the ability of the players in their best positions.
We thought the same about Rickie Lambert when we stepped up from L1 to the championship & again when we were promoted to the Prem - Saints fans all said 'can he do it at this level?' He's answered that - those two are probably better technical players in their positions than him to the extent that we weren't worried about them (the only two we thought we had who could make it at this level). IMO They'd both flourish almost anywhere in world.

3. Fair enough, they're your opinions and you give good examples but they are the minority. Le Tiss was from a different era, doubt Lallana will have known him as a kid, he's too young!

'Tiss would have been playing when Adam was a kid *googles* Turns out that he joined our Academy in 2000 (aged 12), 'Tiss played until 2002, so I'm pretty sure that he's Adams role model (or was as a child) even if they never knew each other.
As a side note, since 2000 Saints have built a new Stadium, appointed 17 different managers, been through Administration, been relegated twice, been taken over by Liebherr and been promoted twice, so he's already been through a lot with us and had ample opportunity to leave like Bale & Walcott. He decided to stay through all that;why leave now when we sit third in the Prem?

5. I was going more by my memory. I remember watching Le Tiss as I was growing up and I'm 32 <laugh>

Ada's 25 himself, so not all that much younger than us anyway (I'm 30, as well); he's just developed a little slower rather than being a teen sensation or one season wonder type player.

Agent Michele Gerbino claims Liverpool are interested in his client Miralem Pjanić.

The 23-year-old Roma ace is wanted by several Premier League 'big guns' and according to Gerbino, Liverpool have made an approach.A full report will be published on our members website along with quotes from the agent regarding Liverpool's contact, shortly.Meanwhile, Liverpool officials have denied that they are negotiating a deal for PSG's Jeremy Menez (26). Speaking off-the-record, an Anfield insider said: "Brendan likes Menez and there has been internal discussions about him, along with other players who are attracting his interest. But to say negotiations are ongoing or have taken place, is certainly not true."Menez was linked with a possible £10million move to Anfield during the last transfer window.

guessing its this then

http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/media-watch/echo-liverpool-transfer-rumours

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers appears to have won the race to sign Derby's Will Hughes.

Rodgers is poised to clinch the signing of £12million Derby County wonderkid Will Hughes - leaving Arsene Wenger and David Moyes out in the cold.

Hughes is a long-term target for Rodgers, Wenger and Moyes, having impressed in central midfield for Derby.

But the 18-year-old finally looks to be on his way out of Pride Park after Liverpool agreed to meet the Rams' £12m asking price.

According to reports, the Reds will land the highly rated England Under-21 international in January.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have again been linked with PSG's Jeremy Menez and are ready to battle AC Milan for the winger.

The 26-year-old will be out of contract at the Parc des Princes at the end of the season and appears out of favour under new PSG boss Laurent Blanc so an exit in January is distinctly possible.

The former Roma man has started just three Ligue 1 fixtures this season and as such has seen his position in Didier Deschamps national team set-up diminish and a move to Liverpool or AC Milan may well tempt the talented wide-man.

Roma are preparing to step up their interest in Liverpool target and Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye as coach Rudi Garcia plots a reunion with the France international.

And according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, the French tactician is keen to snap Cabaye up when the transfer window opens again in just over six weeks.

I believe this was taken from the rumour section of the Echo, which isn't as reliable. <ok>

However, I wouldn't be surprised to see Hughes in a red shirt either in January or the summer. I can't remember who said it (perhaps Tony Barrett from the Times) but he said that LFC weren't going to sign Hughes in January unless they another club come in for him.

Hughes could become a top, top player.

Or end up like Gerrard. One of the two

EDIT: Pjanic would be one to get excited about... Shades of Gerrard about his technique (without Gerrard's drive/pace of old).

A fair few papers are reporting Hughes is coming to us in January for £12m. Let's hope he is not another Allen/Shelvey/etc.

Buying youngsters is good for the future to hopefully pick up a player who matures into something special, but we need a couple of established players who can make a difference to the team straight away

I haven't seen much of Will Hughes but he looks like he might not be ready for our first team and I thought I heard Brenda saying the other week that he will be only signing players that are ready to impact the first team.

Shelvey - decent profit and scored a few good goals for us.

Allen - lets hope he can be another Henderson/Lucas.

Would love Will Hughes but he won't improve our league position this year. Definitely one for the future - fantastic talent.
