Terry Butcher has just accepted the Hibs job hasn't he?? Has he slagged us off yet as a former manager? Or Denis Smith? Malcolm Crosbly? Alan Brown?

****ing sick of hearing O'Neill and Bruce go on about Sunderland - Hope Sheff Weds put this up in front of Wickham and say "Go prove him wrong" and he scores goals then comes back to us a better player

Isn't it generous of O'Neill, despite the vast array ot fantastic players at his disposal, that he'd consider a player with Premier League experience and currently scoring for his current club?

I'd love to see Wickham tell him he doesn't want to play for him ever again and go on to better things.

This is the managerial equivalent of patting a daft kid on the head.

It's interesting but IMO he's going on and on cause he does care. Losing his job from the team he supported is easily the biggest blow in his professional career.
I do wish he'd shut up though. It's like listening to a bloke who's been dumped by his lass, pretending he doesn't care but mentions her every sentence he utters.

I'll be honest, even before we even thought about appointing him, I never bought this 'lifelong Sunderland fan' routine.

To me he's the equivalent of Kevin Keegan and the Mags.

They always claim he's B&W through and through but, in reality, he won everything with Liverpool and absolutely nothing with Newcastle ...... he's from Scunny ffs not Byker!
Has he ever been to a Newcastle match without being paid to be there, has he ****?
Has he ever took his shirt off to reveal a stupid tattoo on his belly or punched a horse in defence of the club?

One of us, don't make me laugh <doh>

Think he's a "stay away" fan - i.e. the type that support(ed?) without going to the match. I do believe he followed our results as a youngster but certainly not to the extent of attending many matches.

Lets hope he gets himself sorted at Wednesday, and comes back fighting for a 1st team place

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O&#8217;Neill is considering a move for England Under 21 striker Connor Wickham as he scours the English and Scottish leagues for new talent.
O&#8217;Neill and his assistant Roy Keane have vowed to continue with the FAI&#8217;s policy of recruiting English and Scottish-born players through their parents and grandparents, which dates back to the Jack Charlton era, and was continued by all Irish managers including O&#8217;Neill predecessor Giovanni Trapattoni.

On his radar: Martin O'Neill is considering a move for Sunderland striker Wickham
Wickham, who qualifies for the Republic through his Northern Irish father Stefan, an Army warrant officer, has scored six goals for England Under 21s in 17 appearances.
He played under O&#8217;Neill at Sunderland last season although struggled, after an £8million move from Ipswich Town and a serious knee injury, to make an impact under his reign.
O&#8217;Neill said: `I worked with Connor at Sunderland. Steve Bruce bought him but I thought the price tag concerned him and for a little while I thought being a professional footballer was enough for Connor and at that stage that he liked the lifestyle which was all very new to him.
`But you have to knuckle down and actually have to go and do something. In my latter days at Sunderland it looked as if he was going to come round and wanted to become a professional player.

`He is out on loan at this minute at Sheffield Wednesday and Connor would be the first to say that to go and play in the Premier League week in, week out is still a big task.
'But those little spells on loan, particularly this one where he is doing all right and scored a few goals, will help him.
`I don&#8217;t think I am in a position at this minute to turn down anything and if someone tells me someone is available, particularly someone I have worked with and might have a chance, I would give it some consideration.&#8217;
 
He did claim that Sunderland was his boyhood club long before he became our manager, so I do not see any reason to doubt this. I also agree with Cyprus M regarding this being a contributory factor of why his sacking seems to have hurt him so much.
For me, the fact that he appears to be so hurt by it makes me look at him with a higher regard rather than have someone who didn't give a ****, but the fact remains that he was sacked solely because of his poor results and even worse performances.

Perhaps I'm being unkind mate but, tbh, my boyhood girlfriend was Jenny Agutter ....... I never went to see her either <laugh>
