I give up, it's too hard. I'm going to trade Dark Souls in for something easy, like Battletoads.

May be a couple of years before one gets into F1 tbh...unless Davide Valssechi finds work somewhere. Aside from that, it'll probably be Raffaelle Marciello, who's been beasting Formula 3 this year, and is in Ferrari's Driving Academy.

I love that game but I don't know what to do other than just complete the campaign over and over. Really wish there had been a sequel with online multiplayer and stuff.

It's just a means of showing how hard Dark Souls is.

Found out today that they won't be extending my probation at work. *sob*

Suppose everything happens for a reason, I guess this is a sensible time to re-evaluate my career (what career?)

Thinking of going into teaching. Loads of people say I would be good at it, but I'm not sure. If I could do it though, it would be good.

Start with the basics - what are you passionate about and love doing?

I've considered teaching. Or writing. Or being a rock star. Might have to give all three a shot.

I'm not sure. When I was younger, I really wanted to be an archaeologist but I gave up that dream because I found out it wasn't paid much (year nine logic <doh>) though I really really wish I hadn't done that. Since then I've wanted to work in the charity sector but not sure doing what, an idea was marketing but I've pretty much given that up in the short term because it's so ultra competitive. So I guess the things I'm passionate about are geography, history, astronomy and marketing Portsmouth Ladies (if I could get a paid job there, that would be amazing, but that's not going to happen).

    Edit: 431 likes, woo!

Why not? Go for it. Just do it, don't talk about it. Do it!

Nah, balls to that. Go for it. Check out what courses you can do through the CIM and do it. You're clearly passionate about football and the Portsmouth Ladies team as well, so definitely push and see if there's things you can do there. Honestly, life is way too short to spend the majority of it doing something you don't enjoy or feel passionate about. So chase after that, not money.

Originally the plan was to get marketing experience in the private sector, then do a shift to the charity sector, which is how most people I know seem to do it. And it's not like I wouldn't enjoy teaching. I think it could be quite good and I'd love to teach at my old school and become head of my old house (which has apparently no longer exists as it's been renamed *sob*) or become a teacher in America, I just don't have confidence in my ability to teach, but then how can you know if you can do something or not if haven't tried it? Then again, right now I don't have much confidence in any of my abilities.

As for Portsmouth Ladies, unfortunately there's no money in women's football below the WSL and I don't think anyone in the club is paid (players, coaches, admin people, etc). That may possibly change if we get into the WSL, but that's unlikely to happen for at least a couple of seasons.

Genuinely if there's anything I regret in my life it was believing that I had only a few career choices, and that I should follow in the footsteps of my old man and go into "business" and earn as much as I could, rather than pushing to work in a field in which I'm passionate (which for me would have been F1 or music). It took me until 35 years of age before I realised that firstly, I wasn't at all interested in 'big business' and that I could, with a little risk and determination (and networking, always networking) go and work with something I loved. It was the best decision of my life, even if I now earn a LOT less than I used to, I'm a million times more fulfilled and happier.

Look at what DTLW is doing - I admire his determination to go out there and pursue something he knows he loves - sports journalism. Take a leaf from there. If you genuinely believe you want to teach, go and get that PGCE, talk to some teachers, ask to do some work experience. Likewise marketing in the charity sector. Talk to people. It's amazing how much people will help if you ask them for advice. Everyone loves to feel important - asking someone for some of their time for a little advice makes them feel good about themselves - it's a win-win situation!!

I get what you're saying about the Portsmouth Ladies Team - is there anything you can do to help out with them on weekends voluntarily (if you genuinely love them)? If so, go for it. You never know what opportunities it will open up if you go into it with some passion and a positive attitude.

This is the thing I'm playing with now. I have no idea what I want to do when I leave uni. I'll probably have a decent Law degree on me, but I just don't know where that could take me - I'd hate to end up doing a job I dread going to, I'd definitely take half the pay to have a job I'd rather do.

Stick with that thought Dan. It will serve you so much better in the long run (unless you're purely money motivated, which actually very few people are.....then become an investment banker).
