News our end is Hobbs will not be leaving until we have signed some defenders. I dont want Hobbs to go but i think he will and i think it will be around 1.2M-1.5M

there's plenty of defender options out there, hobbs, ayala, shackell, gerrard etc... im more concerned about midfield! :) we've desperately needed a good midfielder for years, someone with a bit of creativity. i just hope we get danns

Not Worth that money. He should spend elsewhere.

Gardner earned the nickname 'sicknote' for a reason, i was impressed with him when he played in 2008/09 but he gradually declined as a player after that, he had a stinker at Millwall last season and like Zayatee didn't want to be here.

You forgot that he was the worst centre baxck we've had in 10 years. I rejoiced the day he left.

Didn't see the problem with Gardner, Sonko I'll admit wasn't that good.

Gardner was available for a grand total of six games in his first season with us, he managed 24 in the second season and two in his final season before we palmed him off on Palace. I know you think paying tens of thousands of pounds a week for players who don't play is a good idea, but here in the real world, most of us don't.

Sonko is just a completely talentless twat, one who unbelievably, some moron agreed to pay £28k a week(while playing him only nine times).

Great signing if we pull it off, am hoping we get Ayala in also, then with Chester and the forgotten man Cooper we will have four great young centre backs.

Sonko was a typical desperation signing, like Bullard, by Tangoman and his mate, the fact was after the word got out that Phil Brown was a clueless numpty regarding managing players in the Premiership that we were stuck with signing these kind of players and the likes of Mcshane.

...and those 24 were utter ****e. I don't think we need the JB comparison here. Gardner isn't even good enough to be a 'sicknote' i actually preferred it when he was injured.

Didnt we sound leicster out with a 500k bid?

Seems they didnt bite but might at 800k.

Young, strong with plenty of ability and potential wouldnt be a bad signing gives us a good presence at the back. Im more worried about us getting a goalkeeper in myself. Wish we'd hurry up with this.

our greatest ever manager ****. No he wasnt he got us up there and kept us up against all odds. Great guy.

From January 2009 until we sacked him, he did a pathetic job. To say anything else is revisionist bollocks. I still love him and I won't forget but he had to go. AP's mistake was not sacking him the second he walked back in.

He took us up to the Premier League and kept us there. Then almost took us down (that credit goes to Iain Dowie) rather unceromoniously and left the club when it was bordering on administration. Our greatest ever manager? I'd give it to Warren Joyce. In fact, why is this being discussed on a thread about Jack Hobbs?! Forget I said anything! Jack Hobbs will be here this summer.

800k for Hobbs isn't a bad deal, he has been decent for us and to be honest I can only see him getting better and better. The guy has potential I think!

Strange how many players we seem to say that about...

Just saying.

Yeah it seems to be the players in the 'Brown Club', once he went there wasn't anyone decent to go drinking with or play golf with. Or it could be something simple like Nige made them work for their money rather tha just tossing it off and they didn't like it!!

This, completely, nobody can ever take away his achievements before the Premiership, after that it was like a kamikaze job.

His first couple of games he looked shaky and not necessarily match fit but after that he looked the part, read the game well, won headers and he can certainly tackle. I wouldnt be adverse of paying anything up to 1M for him but over that and we can look elsewhere and i am sure we can get some better for that price. Hope we do sign him though.
